Shirene Kawtarani is one of the first Bachelor of Law students at the Sydney City School of Law, Australia’s newest law school.
Sydney City School of Law, which is part of Top Education Institute (TOP), had its Bachelor of Laws program accredited in 2015 by the Legal Profession Admission Board of New South Wales, making TOP the first private provider to offer an undergraduate course in law. As such, Shirene is one of its pioneer students and is helping to establish the legacy of the School.
Shirene is 19 years old, loves to work out and take her dog for walks. She graduated from Danebank High School in 2015 and besides studying full-time, works at a fashion retail shop and also as a receptionist at a law firm in the city, where she is already gaining experience in the field.
– Why did you choose Top Education Institute?
I chose Top Education Institute because I love the environment. And the fact that it is a smaller educational provider has more of a community feel, which attracted me; the location was also a positive, the atmosphere was very relaxed and it has many cafes and parks nearby.
– Have you had a good experience at Top Education Institute? Why?
I would definitely say I have had a good experience at TOP. I have made a group of very close friends that has made my experience even better. Plus, all the lecturers are friendly and easy to speak to, allowing me to feel more comfortable in my classes.
– Do you think you made the right choice of studying your degree in law at Top Education Institute, and why?
I definitely feel I made the right choice to study at TOP. I can’t picture myself anywhere else. Plus, the lecturers, the people and the environment are different from other universities and it really feels like a community.
– What is your favourite subject and why?
My favourite subject so far would be Tort law. I understand it so well and genuinely enjoy learning each topic in the unit.
– Would you suggest other young students to come and study with us? Why?
I would definitely recommend choosing Top Education Institute to younger students. The experience of studying at TOP is very unique and the positive environment makes it an enjoyable place to study a degree.
– Where do you see yourself in 10-15 years from now?
I see myself hopefully either owning my own law firm or definitely working in the area of Family or Criminal law.
There is no doubt that Shirene will reach her goal because of her leadership skills, hard work and desire to succeed. At the moment, she is also a Student Ambassador for TOP and is a person that shows commitment and passion for what she does.
