You imagined it playing out – your exam paper finished with time to spare, your goal ATAR score, and finally, a letter of offer into your first preference degree. But if, in reality, things didn’t unfold so perfectly, there’s no need to be disappointed. We’re here to remind you that through Open Universities Australia (OUA), your future, the way you imagined it, is only a click away.

Get in the door with single subjects

Through OUA, you can study single subjects online, which are provided by leading Australian unis, and have no entry requirements. All single subjects are part of a university degree program, so in most cases, after you successfully complete them, you’ll be offered a place at your uni as an official student. Not only do single subjects qualify you to enter a full degree, they’re also a great way to ease into university level study, and to find out whether you actually enjoy the study area, or online study itself. It’s always great to have the flexibility to study how it suits you.

Ditch tradition and do uni your way

Perhaps you were picturing the traditional uni experience, with lecture halls, cafeterias and erm, cutting class for a drink at the pub. There’s a lot to love about the on-campus experience, but online study has its own set of perks, and so many Australian students are taking advantage.

•     Have time for work and travel – There’s no need to squash your travel bug, or say no to work shifts. If you’ve got the option to study anytime, anywhere, then why not take it?

•     Say goodbye to transit – Don’t lose precious hours travelling to campus. Get those trackies on, nuzzle with your furry study buddy, and hit play on your lecture.

•     Take subjects from multiple unis – You don’t have to stick to one uni, even after you’ve enrolled in a full degree program. This means greater choice, and a qualification that’s tailored to you.

•     Don’t stress about payment – If you’re eligible, you can take out a HELP loan, so you don’t have to pay upfront for your studies. This even applies to single subjects!

Earn the same degree as an on-campus student

First things first – the degree or subject(s) you study are provided by actual universities, whether they be from Curtin, Griffith, Macquarie, RMIT, Swinburne, University of South Australia, ACU, La Trobe or Murdoch University. It’s their logo that will feature on your certificate, making it as legitimate as any degree earned on-campus, and just as impressive on your resume.

It’s an amazing feeling when things go to plan, but if they don’t, make a new plan! After all, there’s always another road to get where you want to go. Start exploring your options today at open.edu.au, or call a friendly student advisor on 13 OPEN to chat about your study goals.
