At WSU, we’re very passionate about our Psychology degrees.

To be rated in the Top 10 Psychology Schools in Australia (and Top 150 worldwide!), you need to be.

If you’re interested in Psychology, here are some reasons to consider studying at Western.

NEW FACILITIES

An incredible degree requires incredible facilities – so we’ve delivered.

At our Parramatta campus, we have recently launched our new $30 million Science and Psychology Building.

These facilities are purpose-built teaching spaces, meaning your program will cater precisely to your own needs. Whether you’re studying Psychology, Art Therapy or Social Work, you will have access to state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories.

As a result, WSU enables you to gain valuable, hands-on, practical experience.

After all, to be successful in the industry, you’ll need to know more than just definitions!

REAL EXPERIENCE

Our Psychology degrees are led by experts in the field: internationally-recognised psychology academics and practitioners.

From your lecturers and tutors, you will gain a working understanding of what it really means to study Psych. And that sort of experience will be absolutely invaluable as you progress through your degree.

Further, once our students are provisionally registered psychologists, they are offered access to Western’s Psychology Clinic.

Under supervision, students are enable to treat real patients, and gain real experience. This is why the Psychology Clinic is so valuable; it results in very real experiences and personal development.

Ultimately, we genuinely care about our students. For example, this year, we provided free digital textbooks for first-year units (valued up to $800). And we’ll be doing this again in 2018!

CAREER PROSPECTS

All of this, of course, is great for career prospects.

Western is passionate about setting up our students for life after uni. We want our students to succeed not only in the classroom, but out of it.

We have recently partnered with Wesley Mission: a major provider of health and other services.

The whole point of this partnership is to make our graduates “job-ready”. From our announcement of the partnership:

Alongside [our] psychology degrees, the agreement will provide hundreds of students with the option of completing formal mental health workforce training from their first year of study through placements in Wesley Mission hospitals and clinics.

This practical experience and training will open up opportunities for Western Sydney University psychology graduates to be employed at Wesley Mission, as well as other major service providers. In addition, it will help ensure that psychology students entering postgraduate programs have relevant hands-on experience.

That’s what we mean when we talk about being “job-ready” – psych is much more than learning from textbooks.

In fact, our graduates pursue employment in a range of specialties, including but not limited to:

•     Specialist, clinical and forensic psychology
•     Policy development
•     Human resource consultancy
•     Vocational assessment
•     Juvenile justice
•     Family and community services
•     Youth work

So, if you’re interested in anything psych-related, come and find out more at our Open Day!
