Sometimes, it can be frustrating working out what you want to do after Year 12. There are so many options, and it can actually be pretty overwhelming.
But it can be even more frustrating knowing what you want to study, but not knowing where to look.
Historically, this has been the case for those interested in pursuing a career in policing. But now, with WSU’s Bachelor of Policing in the frame, such students need no longer worry!
WHAT IS THE BACHELOR OF POLICING?
WSU’s Bachelor of Policing is a three-year degree. They offer it at two campuses: Penrith and Liverpool.
The course has been developed in conjunction with the NSW Police Force, so you know it’s going to be legit.
There are some pretty sweet units on offer, including but certainly not limited to:
• Policing, Justice and Society
• Working With Communities
• Crime, Deviance and Society
• Policing Practices
• Juvenile Crime and Justice
• Legislation, Courts and Policing
• Evidence, Investigations and Police Intelligence
• Crime Prevention and Community
COOL – SO WHY WSU?
WSU offers the only Sydney-based Policing degree – so, fantastic for convenience!
The teaching staff at Western are also first class. Experts in their fields (including ex-police officers), these staff are literally the best possible people to help you get to where you want to be.
And where exactly, might that be?
Well, a Policing degree can really set you up for multiple career paths, such as:
• Police force
• Correctional services
• Border protection and community services
• Juvenile justice system
• Child protect services
And a whole range of other areas. Recent graduates of the course are now working for multiple police departments (NSW, NT and the Australian Federal Police amongst them), but graduates branch off in all sorts of different directions.
The best way to get this insight, of course, is to speak with current students at WSU’s upcoming Open Day!
CRIME SCENE HOUSE
At the Open Day, you might like to ask about WSU’s Crime Scene House!
This facility has been specifically designed to help students practise simulated crime scene investigation.
The practical, hands-on focus is coupled with solid theoretical knowledge, so you’re covered on all bases.
This is definitely worth asking about on Open Day!
