99.95 & 50 Study Score Chemistry and Maths Methods CAS Tuition
« on: December 15, 2010, 11:19:27 pm »
Hey Guys,
My name’s Nikhil Gullapalli.
My friend, Jeremy William, and I are offering tuition for Maths Methods CAS and Chemistry.

My (Nikhil Gullapalli) credentials:
•   Completed Year 12 in 2010.
•   99.8 ATAR.
•   Dux Proximus of Haileybury College 2010.
•   Raw Study Score 50 for Chemistry in 2010.
•   Raw Study Score of 45 (50 scaled) for Specialist Maths in 2010.
•   Highest Achiever in Monash University/Enhancement Maths (including both enhancement and university students) in 2010.
•   5.5 Increment and High Distinction for Monash University Maths.
•   Raw Study Score of 38 (52 scaled) for Latin 3/4 in 2009.
•   Haileybury College Subject Prize for highest achiever in Specialist Mathematics 3/4, English Language 3/4 and Public Speaking Prize in 2010.
•   tutoring experience

Jeremy William’s Credentials:
•   Completed year 12 in 2009.
•   99.95 ENTER/ATAR
•   Dux of Haileybury College 2009.
•   Raw study score of 48 in Maths Methods Cas in 2008.
•   Raw study score of 50 in Chemistry in 2008.
•   Raw study score of 50 in Specialist Maths in 2009.
•   Raw study score of 50 in English Literature in 2009.
•   5.5 Increment for Monash University Maths in 2009.
•   comprehensive  tutoring experience

In our opinion and experience, the art of teaching and tuition is a combination of knowledge and communication. Tutors need to know the course and material, and need to be able to clearly and easily explain it to students.
Both Jeremy and I know the VCE course inside out (demonstrated by our results).
However what distinguishes us from the rest of the high achievers is our ability to teach. We are both exceptional public speakers. We both are debaters and mooters (law court debating), having competed for both at state levels. I have also won the Victorian United Nations Youth Association Model Security Council, and have just come back from representing Victoria in Parliament House, Canberra, all of last week in the national competition. Public speaking is the act of explaining and solidifying ideas and arguments for an audience. Such abilities innately transfer into our teaching resulting in effective tuition.

What we do:

Weekly Tuition.
We teach in a unique model, the "combo" class, which gives our students "the best of both worlds" providing unparalleled tuition.
The "combo" class consists of a 1-hour small group class and 45-min 1-on-1 class.
The group class gives us, the teachers, an opportunity to explain and go through the fundamental concepts ahead of schools, in order to give our students the extra edge. More importantly it allows our students to share thoughts with the brightest students across Victoria, giving them a wider perspective.

This then allows us to spend time individually with students in the 1-on-1 class to go through any individual problems or to give extra focus to certain topics as per students request, after they have, at the very minimum, a basic understanding due to the small group class.

We are extremely flexible and for whatever reason, if you were not interested in the combo class, we also offer just 1-on-1, 1-on-2 and small group classes.
Rates depend on class type, however all rates are extremely cheap.

Our students will also have access to our self-written textbook, notes and examples which give much more clarity and depth to fundamental concepts, and provide our students with exam-style questions to emphasise exam strategy from the outset.

We also offer a "Summer Preparatory Program" to give students a head start to the year.

Our Philosophy:

We believe that for a student to achieve a decent score, it is not merely sufficient to know the course. After teaching each section of core knowledge, we focus on exam style strategies and exam style thinking, including time management, formulaic approaches to questions, etc., to ensure our students are in the top few percent of the state.
Although there are many tutors out there who are full time teachers, engineers, etc. in our vast experience, the best tutors are those who have actually completed the VCE course themselves and achieved great results. People who have done well in the VCE know what is needed to perform, know things that classroom teachers wouldn't, as classroom teachers have to think about the whole class. Unfortunately this means that they neglect what is needed to help the top end students or how to turn a 45 study score into 50.

Need more proof?

We currently have around 20 students which demonstrates our credibility.

Everyone is entitled to one free lesson (NO STRINGS ATTACHED) to see if we suit your needs, or to decide what class-type they prefer. So send me an email, and we can arrange a free lesson for you. If you still aren't satisfied after the free lesson, there is no obligation whatsoever.

Significant discounts are offered if you recommend us to a friend, or bring a friend along.

Our email is:

 [email protected]

Best to let us know early, even if you are only considering so we can reserve a spot for you.
Interest in the Summer Preparatory Program will need to be conveyed as soon as possible, as it will commence soon.

Good luck with everything guys,
Nikhil.

Interested in the idea of your self-written textbook and notes... could you please, if possible, scan a page for me so I can see what the level of it is like?

Thanks!

Hey, just thought I'd say that at the very least these guys are legit. :)
This is /not/ an endorsement, as I've never actually met these guys, but a friend of mine knows Jeremy William well enough, and apparently he's a genius of some sort (:P --> 99.95) so these guys are reliable.

Just to save people being mislead, I am bound to reveal that Nikhil got a RAW study score of 45 for Spesh, I know it does say ATAR subject score. But I was tricked at first..

That said, 45 is still a great achievement, and he would be a very capable tutor. :)

Hey Matty,
Sorry for any confusion but we weren't trying to mislead anyone.

Just to clear it up for anyone else:
My ATAR Subject Score, used to be called scaled study score, for chemistry and specialist maths was 50.
MY RAW Study score was 50 for chemistry and 45 for specialist maths.

Hope that helps :)

Nikhil.

Hey guys,
Sincere apologies to everyone who replied or wanted sample notes.

I have been overseas for the last few weeks and haven't had access to the internet.

That said anyone who want sample notes can now send me an email.

Cheers,

To clear up any other concerns that may come up:

Latin Raw Score was 38. For those who didn't realise you can't have a raw score of 52 :P

Cheers.

I cannot recommend these guys enough. The consummate skill they possess in the field of Chemistry is second-to-none, and their understanding of the nuances of the VCE will ensure that you will be prepared for every test, every SAC and most importantly every exam. Their textbook is very comprehensive, and cover many aspects of the course which the book does not cover. As well as being great tutors, they are also great guys, and have given me the knowledge integral for success in VCE.

I had my first session today, and personally i thought it was great.
They make their notes by themselves, and in the first hour we covered the imperative concepts in units 1/2 needed throughout units 3/4.
Jeremy provides great explanations, taking out all the science jargon in textbooks and simplifying it for students to understand in a comprehensive manner. You know these guys know what they're talking about, given their scores.
I'll be looking forward to my next lesson,
