awesome, thanks.. i thought i had the solutions with me but i left them somewhere.

im doing it now, its pretty easy&straightforward- very much so in comparison to the non-vcaa papers i've done which had so many annoying questions. i wonder if the exam this year will be comparable to this..

Yer I think the sample paper is to get people into a false sense of security. My chem teacher reckons this exam will be the easiest so far (of this study design) because VCAA got complaints last year about the exams difficulty so they would be cautious when putting on heaps of hard questions. Then again it's chemistry, I don't think they try to make it easy often. Hopefully it will be like this sample one though :D

Question:
Please exlpain why in 2008 Sample exam above..
Q1d SAQ.

Part d (ii) and d(iii) as less volume is required, [because the c(lemon juice) is reduced],
                            c=n/v
                            iff  v decreases, wouldnt c increasse, hence " result tooo high " ?

ii.  20mL pipette is used to transfer the diluted lemon juice, hence it should be rinsed with it.

iii.  Your initial calculation is to find mole, n=cv.  As v is reduced, calculated mol is less than it should be.  So then when you work out conc, this is also reduced.

Volumetric errors are an epic pain in the ass, and you have to check whether the first thing you do is use n=cv or c=n/v in order to determine whether you are going to get a higher value or a lower value.

Yeah, an exam with lots of stoich would be good, provided that I learn how to copy out numbers properly by next Wednesday...

An easy exam would suck.  A few marks lost and then you fall back into the pack with everyone else.  Just hopefully there's no complex or long winded theory on there. :)

I agree the questions with an essay worth of description are shit. It takes too long to comprehend....
