Something I've noticed at family gatherings or catch ups with friends lately - It isn't the serious, pressing issues of our time that cause the loudest debates. Debates on the presidency of Donald Trump are quiet and respectful, discussion of the rate cuts for Retail workers are civilised and honest.
But mention that you keep BBQ sauce in the pantry after it is opened, and Jesus Christ, watch your back because a plate probably just got thrown at your head.
The stupidest topics seem to have the best debates. This is probably because there is no concern of genuinely offending anyone, because the topic is so stupid. So you can let rip, safe in the knowledge that even after you've hurled your best insults at your pineapple pizza eating friend, you'll shake hands and make up. Because really, who gives a damn?
But hey,
serious debates on stupid topics seems like a fun idea to me
Topic for Debate: Do you keep sauce in the fridge after it is opened?Y'all fridge keepers are inhumane - How can you put cold sauce on a hot sausage sizzle?Edit: Feel free to suggest more topics, I'll try and make this a weekly/bi-weekly thing
