I had a chemistry SAC last term which absolutely shredded me. I managed a score of 24/39, with a cohort average being something like 22. It was the most difficult test I've ever done and had some ridiculous 8 mark question at the end. It was literally "Find the empirical formula of this compound (8 marks)" given like 2 pages of information with basically no guidance, so it was worth about 20% of the SAC and only a couple of people even got 6+ marks. Thankfully, I don't think VCAA can be this cruel in their exams.

My best has probably been my German oral SAC, which is the only one I've done for the subject this year.

I was devastated with my specialist sac, got around 80-85% but it was a pretty easy sac. I was frustrated because I had all the concepts correct, but I made literally 10 simple mistakes (including 4x2=16 and -a=-1 means a=-1........). Otherwise I'm enjoying it! Five sacs this week for me! Good job to the people above me with their scores!

been a while since I posted...

how are all your subjects going guys??? any favourites yet???

Uni Philosophy hands down, best subject in the world!

What's the lowest mark you guys have achieved this year? and in which subject
also what's the highest mark, and which subject

Not too sure why you are interested but I'll answer anyway.  :P

Lowest
Economics: either 87 or 89%, can't really remember

Highest
English and Methods tied: 100%

I've only done one SAC for each subject.

Five sacs this week for me!

Good luck! I have an upcoming 10 minutes oral for English :(

this is the second sac...the first one was bad, so then i put tons of time and effort into this one, and my marks rose by literally 1%.
Gatecrashing once again.
Of course, you'll all worry about SAC and marks. There is no way you'll ever feel great about getting a "bad" score when you expected much higher. That's the harsh reality. I can't sugar coat that for you, sadly.

On the other hand, do realise that even if you feel several SACs were horrible, your mark will redeem itself. Have faith, keep persisting and one day, you'll be rewarded. I, myself, was in the same scenario about EL last year. My average SAC mark was low, my exam predicted to be worse. I expected SS of 25. I ended up getting an SS quit a bit higher than that prediction. It may not have been 40+, but for a predicted 25, that was a massive jump on the bell curve.

SACs aren't everything. It is certainly not a be all and end all. Heck, if you thought you did horrendously, it's likely others did too and the SAC itself is subject to scaling anyway (probably get a result higher than you got). It wouldn't be worth you stressing and feeling bad about getting X score in Y SAC, when you should be concentrating on the next one (just as you did the last one). Just keep persevering.

I reference this again: "you can never change the past, but you can always change the future". That's the adage that you should believe. Because only you can believe in yourself to have the confidence to pull out the score you truly desire. (Believing in yourself may sound like a cliche from a children's movie, but you need to feel as if you have the capability to do well in order to actually succeed.) Everyone has the potential to do well. They just have to keep chipping at the rock to uncover the true treasure underneath. And right now, you're halfway there. Just keep going.

tl;dr: As one fish once said: "Just keep swimming" and you'll eventually succeed.

As in the first one...
Oh alright then!

What I tend to do is to take a step back from everything and review what I've done with my teacher and go through the marking scheme with them. I know my subjects are quite different to yours in terms of the style of questions you get given but for my subjects I do this and log every single error I make in the SACs and revision questions prior to the SAC and also write what I did correct but very briefly. Afterwards I go back and write down the correct answer back (since there's no working out on the corrections that my teachers make) but in the end the types of questions you get wrong in these SACs will come up again at the end of the year so you want to iron them out by then!

For me I review myself and check what sort of bad habits I fall into whilst checking what type of mistakes I also make. Are they knowledge based questions I'm getting wrong or is my explaining flawed? If it's knowledge based then I write notes but if it's explaining then I do more exam questions to expose myself to the types of questions which can be assessed.

But just persevere thaanyan! Still got a long way to go till end of year so just push yourself and you'll be rewarded nicely as the year goes by :)

Actually how is Uni Philosophy? It seems like an interesting subject except I know nobody doing it (my friend got accepted from school but didn't want to travel to UoM every week so they're not doing it anymore LOL)
And congrats on the awesome mark (you'll ace the English oral)!

Mate, you only got a 50 in Spesh. Let me know when you get a good score in a challenging subject, such as VET Equine Industry or Kitchen Operations.

Sheesh, kids these days know nothing about hard work.

Kitchen operations? Just because of my gender, right? Sigh... Institutionalised sexism. Men are pigs.

Don't worry, my first sac mark was 60 percent, and I was shattered, but it was a wake up call to me to start focusing, like everyone on this forum always iterate, "you can't change the past results, just work harder for the next results" :)
