Bullshitting or legitimate offer?

So a friend of mine's mum blabbed to me today that her son got an offer last friday from ANU Arts/Law, and her son accepted to Canberra. Firstly, I didn't believe her because she has always deviously thought of me as a horrible human being because of my lower atar score and the fact that i don't really give a shit about curry comparisons in scores. Is that true though?

This is her exact words, "My son got an offer early because his ATAR was above 95, and we accepted it straight away". Now is this true, or is she bullshitting to me? Because I thought EVERYONE other than international students get an offer on Jan 17...?

Shine some light, guys.

I got an early offer to ANU and I think a few others on AN did as well. Not too sure what the ATAR requirements were for early offers though.

UAC has an early round for offers, only for first preferences and some unis though. Main round offers for UAC are the day before VTAC ones too. I don't believe there's an ATAR requirement, I can tell you that the ATAR over 95 thing isn't true.

http://www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/offers/rounds/early-january.shtml

Quote
These Institutions will make a limited number of offers in this round to small groups of applicants including:
-deferred applicants
-non-Year 12 applicants, usually with no current studies or tests
-applicants selected predominantly on criteria other than an Australian Year 12, such as interviews, auditions, or special admissions programs.

For these applicants only the course listed as their first preference will be considered in this offer round, unless they have included distance education courses – all distance education preferences are considered.

Yeah I got one as well haha
I also don't know how early offers were decided, I'm not sure it would go by ATAR though, a bunch of us here on AN got early offers and our ATARs cover a pretty wide range.
Maybe they give early offers to interstate applicants?? Just a guess...

Of course not. :)

These aunties have nothing better to do than make others feel worse about themselves. If someone had told me something like that, aunty or not, I'd tell it like it is straight to their face, they thoroughly deserve it imo. VCE is no easy feat. Especially for those who want to do well, and to be spoken to like that.. Is childish really.

But this is reserved as a rant in the curry thread....

One of my mates made a short film which reminds me of this situation - you should watch it, it's hilarious!
