I can attest what has been said.
One of the main reasons I left was because of the teaching culture there. Yes, every school has not so great teachers, but the majority of them in MHS, in my opinion, had this mentality of teaching because they had to, not because they want to. This doesn't go for all of them though - I had a few teachers that genuinely cared and went above and beyond in their teaching.
Such problems has also occurred at MacRob and seems to be a problem with both schools.
Don't know too much about Mac.Rob, but there has been news relatively recently about the teaching quality there as well (I'm mentioning the infamous Mac.Rob protest in 2017, if you know, you know). There was also a speech made in 2016 in MHS from a student representative who criticised the principal and the teachers. (

I've already mentioned this a few times, but in short, MHS has a phenomenal student culture, but besides that, from my short time there, I didn't really see anything special about it (except for the free gym, that was mint and I highly recommend you use it to alleviate your stress).
After reading this I知 so scared since I知 going to MHS next year. I知 very ambitious and I work very hard. Will MHS decrease my chances of getting into medicine?
Not really. The people there are geniuses, so just form a study group with those who can facilitate you. Besides, most people in VCE at MHS ask for help from other students more than they do with teachers.
BTW, the reason why MHS has such a high median study score is because of the students there, not the facilities/teachers. this is a pretty big misconception a lot of people have
