Yes. We currently use iPads, but many students (well, Yr 11's and 12's) have started using laptops instead of iPads since they're more productive, you know, trackpad, USB, split screen multitasking, proper keyboard etc. etc.

If I'm honest, iPads were a terrible decision made on behalf on the school IT committee, all people do now is play games with them and any proper work is done on the desktops in the Library.
Don't the staff know what's going on? Don't they like, tell the students off? :/

Yeah all the staff know what's going on, some do, some are just very clueless and some just couldn't care less.

Some teachers walk around class at random intervals checking everyone's iPad (of course we just exit the app once they come around) and only subs seem to do this anyway.

A small minority think we're doing work on them, whilst in reality we're playing games or something the other.

When they first introduced them, there were lots of confiscations etc. etc. but now there aren't too many, either we've become smarter at hiding what we're doing or the teachers can't really be bothered stopping the class and taking the iPad, the student's ID card and giving it into the SLC's office later.

Many of my teachers agree that iPads were a stupid idea compared to laptops, which are infinitely more productive.

Also the IT have decided to start blocking a series of websites and servers which mean games like clash of clans and hearthstone can't be played at school nor be accessed at all through VPN, but still, reddit, youtube and anime reading sites remain unblocked.

One word, wow. :O

By the way, do only seniors use and bring laptops or are juniors allowed to bring them as well?

Yeah, pretty much all schools that have an iPad program run into that issue, and it isn't very well managed. Still, I hate how inconvenient laptops are in the classroom, they are much better to use at home when doing assignments and research :P.

Don't think so, was just talking about past experience.

What constitutes a Junior? Grades 9-10?

You may have a chance in a later offer for suzanne cory or nossal (offers are still being given untill december). But I should let you know that competition will be very very high as most of the offers will be prioritized for the students who achieved high results but missed out because of the 5% rule. You might've have read in one of pi's posts: they are looking for people who have a good overall score. You seemed to have done well in maths and numerical, but most were average and you also recieved a low. BUT KEEP HOPE. Seeing as nossal and suzanne cory are fairly new schools, they may be looking for numbers.

 ;D Good Luck!

kek, my point is that there is no need to repetitively spam 'MHS YAY'. students who attended the selectives and did not pass don't want to be bombarded by a big, bold MHS YAY three times, once is enough. they study hard without results: it is demoralising. getting in on a first offer is of course, something to be proud of, however, there is no need to go on repeating it bigger, bolder and with a different colour every time, instead, be humble about getting in. :)
