Hey all, I'll keep you updated as I know more today :). I know how frustrating the random errors can get. You think you're good and will have your page loaded, relax- then bam. Hit with an error. We're in a stage now where ATAR Notes is in a massive growth period, which forces massive development from us. We can't rest on our laurels - we have to keep making improvements and making things better. There's just no way we can stay the same. As the site gets worked on more than ever before, surely it's only natural to expect some things to go wrong. It's just maths that not everything can be perfect. Hopefully this site is around for the next 50 years to help students in need, so whilst it seems like we're having lots of issues now, over the long term things like this are just a blip.

In the short term, it's more than a blip. Right now it's the biggest priority we have. Keep in mind this has been occurring for under 24 hours at this point. The last time it happened we shelled out for AWS to get it fixed. The problem we're having right now seems, at least to me, minor in comparison. I can only hope the solution is too, but I'll wait to get information from people who know better before I talk about that.

Long story short, we get it. We're working on the site heavily to make sure Sydney people don't impact on our forums, and yesterday there was an error. 2 consultants and our developer started working immediately to bring the site back up and the best they could do in 6 hours was to have it up with the minor albeit frustrating error we're receiving now. They've had just over half a working day. Give them a chance... Or at least more than 6 hours.

Brenden, how do you upvote in this time of need? I can't seem to upvote people's comments anymore.

I can upvote/downvote just fine. Only issue is I can't press that little person (this) next to the respect buttons to see a list of people who voted. Pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, but perhaps that's what qazser is referring to.

When i bring my cursor over + or - it lights up green and red respectively but clicking it does nothing. Tried 3 browsers, 2 internet connections. I think its just me, cos everyone else is upvoting.

^ For me, just like posting, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't (but that's always been a problem with upvoting on AN anyway, just right now it doesn't work more of the time).  A couple of refreshes tend to fix it if you care enough, LOL.

Update: the dev was trying to update something something, which was going to "fix everything or break everything" (I'm oozing in confidence), but there are "files missing" for the upgrade, so he's fixing that. Not sure what kind of update this is because I don't know what it means, but he believes he's found a solution (half the work I suppose) and he's now working on implementing it.

Update:Can upvote now

Same, it wasn't working for me before but it now works.

This issue is happening to me as well, I can't see the list of people who voted on a post.

Okay, the dev reckons everything is fixed. You wouldn't believe it. A while ago we disabled the "forced post" functionality but it still was hanging arohd in the forum's code. We removed it and... Woosh. Seems like it was doing some weird things with the database and being triggered by weird events.

Pretty happy with the 30 hour turnaround from the team, who've probably collectively logged 60 hours total in the past two days.

Things are much better, haven't got any errors! :D One point though - I think LaTeX is still down.
