CSSA 2016 Biology Thoughts?

The exam for me was today, not sure when everyone else has it, some might not have had it yet so please do not put up anything that gives away a question until the security period is over in week 5 or i WILL flex moderator muscle!!

Anyway what did everyone think?
Over studied? Under studied?

Tricky or easy?
What did you expect? Did you get what you expected?

I'll go first:

I thought it was on the whole pretty okay but as with always a couple of doozies (Did everyone see the mistake on Q8 of the multichoice?) wasnt really happy with the 8 marker at the end, but besides that i cant really complain all that much :)
Still reckon i did alright though, although im being careful not to jinx myself!

Q8 my school did an Errata (or as I call it Erre-ta) and pointed out the mistake in 8.

Overall, I can't say I overstudied cause you can never be TOO prepared, but overall easy exam

(2hrs to do :) )

What do you mean by errata/erreta? We do a "page by page check" and the mistake was identified, outlined, explained and replaced then :D

Too true you can never be too prepared, but i was expecting worse..

It's a sheet saying there's a change in the paper (like a different question or an error in a question)

Also I agree, that it was much easier, like my chem was heaps easier than I thought

Moderation action: Merged double post.

Oh right, we just got a verbal notification and a reference to the whiteboard where it was written up. No amendment papers for us :D

Also Senior Science (not wanting to jinx myself) was actually much easier than i thought it was going to be.
Fingers crossed that SOR II will be easy as well!

Did you guys like the chromosome question which involved drawing?? Those questions always stump me! My teacher tried explaining it but it wasn't very clear. Any advice for future exams?

Mod Action: Just modified this post to not give away the question for those still yet to sit it :)

Omg my chromosomes looked so mutated!! I cannot draw for the life of me! Hopefully theyll actually know that they are supposed to be chromosomes and not bananas or a scribble on the page ;D

My advice is to get every diagram you are asked to do in bio (starting with the feedback mechanism onwards) and just make a booklet of them to remember before the exam. Helps me anyway and i hope it helps you! :D

i thought that there was quite a bit of actual experiment questions, especially since i do communication. MULTIPLE CHOICE... ive seen easier questions FOR SURE. Some short answers were very "waffly" answers, you know when you have to go on quite a bit about small things to build up the marks.
I could have studied the experiments a bit more. But overall i think it was a fair exam, (excluding some multiple choice)

The last question for communication was pretty good cause it was just subheadings --> what should be done --> what you did for your experiment and Justify, easy marks

The trial was alright overall, not too challenging. But unfortunately, a lot of the concepts i took a lot of time studying a few weeks prior didn't even come up, especially from the module search for better health...
Keep smiling and be happy!

That's to be expected though, you can't have ALL the content from three modules for 75 marks, 20 of which is multiple choice, so it can be difficult

I found it to be a pretty good test on the whole, didn't think I'd end up needing the whole 3 hours but I found myself writing til the last minute going over answers for extra detail haha! I agree with melprocrastinator about going over the experiments, I definitely privilege content and information over the practicals  :-\
