Universities - How to Scope Them Out Without Leaving the House

With COVID-19 running amok, a lot of Open Days and in-person events have been cancelled, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t still scope out and research your desired university of choice. Most institutes are now offering virtual tours and events – all free of charge – which will still allow potential future students check out what institute, course and career pathway is right for them.

Here, I’ve collated just some of the ones on offer for the moment, with some links to Open Days here too! (Just note that most won’t happen until July/ August 2020.) Click on the spoilers and links (blue writing) to check any of the listed institutes out. I’ve added notes where necessary and tried to keep these as relevant to current Year 12 students as possible.

Note: I was going to collate TAFE and specialist colleges, but have found that rather difficult, given the number of links I’d need to cover them all, so this one’s just the universities… at least the ones with “university” in their official name or the ones I know as official universities in all the eastern Australian states, except Tasmania. Please let me know if you’d like me to collate links for the TAFEs and specialist colleges too.

Note 2: If I’ve missed a university or a link is dodgy, let me know! There’s so many of them that there’s bound to be a mistake somewhere!

Update (28/06/2020): Course/ degree finders and Handbooks have been added where applicable. Course/ degree finders allow you to research the course you're interested in. Handbooks generally talk more about the specifics, including the units (uni talk for subjects) you'll take, course maps (how your course could look) and sometimes the details of what assessments you'll have/ content you'll learn in those units. If you're not sure what course you want - just check out the course/ degree finder. If you're starting to plan what major/ minor you'd like to take because you want to see how it all fits, use the Handbook.
