I was wondering whether we need to know about anticipatory and carryover assimilation? (basically assimilation in more depth?)

I've never heard of it and it isn't listed on the study design, but if you know what it means and you are able to correctly identify it in texts, then use it. Examiners like to see as much metalanguage as possible
