Gonna get that flat 30 ATAR | 箸の日記

Hey guys,

Welcome to my VCE journal (yikes). I've been heavily inspired by my mate :' )   (here's her VCE journal; check it out, she has an awesome way of writing which I always just find entertaining for some reason lol https://atarnotes.com/forum/index.php?topic=185859.0 )

Sooo I'm not quite sure how this works but I guess here's a bit about myself

- I'm currently a year 10 studying at Macrob (as of 2019)
- I LOVE LOVE LOVE music (even the name of this journal has a music pun heh)
- I also love writing and drawing
- Interestingly, I lack a whole heap of common sense, more book smart than street smart welp
- The subjects I'm currently studying are Methods, Hidden Persuaders (an English subject), Japanese, The World Game (sport subject), Essential Science, Bio Unit 1
- VCE subjects I want to do: Methods, Bio, Chem, Jap, Lit, Spesh
- Not aiming for an ATAR of 30 believe it or not, I'm aiming for the 99.90 for Chancellor's but we all know I'm gonna end up with a FLAT 30
- My favorite subject is...wait for it - MATH

Now my life is a bit crazy - or at least I think it is
Stick around to see why

Also if you're someone who is trying for selective school and just so happens to stumble across this post, don't be shy; feel free to ask questions...no bombard me with em
In fact, anyone in general can spam (maybe not literally because I think it's against the forum rules)

Hey!
Yeah, I'm planning on doing Methods 3/4 and Bio 3/4 next year
In Macrob, they luckily offer 1/2 or (individual unit 1) subjects; however for Methods you need to get into an Accelerated Maths program which I was lucky enough to get into but it was just pure luck

Are you doing any VCE subjects?

2019年9月3日火曜日 - Update

Okay so the first post was just an introduction, here's the actual logging

- I am planning on taking Jap 1/2 next year even though I have just started Jap this year (hence my crazy life)
- Tomorrow, I have my first ever Jap oral but as you can see, I'm being "productive" partially because it's all memorized
- I have my Bio test and a Math mock test (prep for our exam next week) all squished together on Thursday
- My subject strengths are leaning more towards Math, English and LOTE but not science and humanities
- I like Bio because it's interesting and I have already gone over Unit 1 with my tutor but I'm still quite weak on science subjects, or at least in my opinion
- Very terrified about chem 1/2 next year and I wish it wasn't a pre-req for med

With Jap 1/2, my plan is that obviously if it is proven to be too ambitious next year, I can always drop it after a term or a sem and take on a new subject
If it does come down to that, I'm planning on taking another English but haven't decided on which (leaning towards Mainstream)

PS: I forgot to mention
- I study extra hard for Jap because honestly it is such an enjoyable subject. We once had a day off on a Friday so I studied the night before, on the Friday and Saturday just on completing my tutoring's textbook and spent over 17 hours doing Jap, Jap and more Jap.
- Doing Lit was a last minute decision of mine before handing in my subject selections because I was recommended by a teacher to do it so I was like why not

Heyo, thanks for that comment it made my day XD

For Methods, I'm more half half on it. My main issue this year was my procrastinating habits which I developed from last year. I guess last year, my class was the one class which had homework like once every two or three weeks. Whenever we had an assessment, we would ask for an extension as a whole class and that meant more freedom, less stress and a lot more procrastination. Those bad studying habits greatly affected me this year.

I happened to teach myself the whole transformations and matrices topic one day before my test and got a pretty bad score (which is expected). I am now trying to maintain a good work schedule so I think by next year I will be fine. Also, I love circular functions and calculus and those are a major component of Methods 3/4 so hopefully it'll all turn out okay

Thanks for that comment though, it was rlly sweet xx

Aw but really! I’m happy you’ve decided to share your progress, and it’s cool to see others in the same year level (:
It”s good you feel confident with methods, and if you enjoy it it should come to you easier, right
I completely understand the procrastination thing. I’m exactly the same, where in previous years I’ve gotten good scores and understood stuff without much practice, but now it’s different as I’m reaching VCE, and I lowkey need to kick my butt into gear lmao

Haha yeah it's a great subject and also are you in year 10 too? How are you finding it? Have you thought about VCE subjects?
And naw don't worry I'm sure those procrastination habits will go away over time and you will be fine :))

Yeah, I'm in year 10! It's been great so far- I've enjoyed finally getting into scope of VCE and such. I've picked my subjects already, actually! (next year I'm doing eng, lit, methods, bio, psych, hhd 3/4)

Have you chosen/thought about yours?

Yep, everything is in my signature section.
I also noticed you’re doing two english’s. That sounds like a lot of fun! Also, are you trying for any specific course in uni by any chance?
