VCE Methods 2006-2015 Study Design \(-\) Which questions are still relevant?

I thought I should make a comprehensive guide that explains which questions of the past exams from the previous study design are still relevant. Note that sometimes, if it's simple enough, I'll just edit the question to make it doable. Sometimes, there will be a question which is technically doable that I'll exclude purely due to it being irrelevant anyway.

If you believe I've made a mistake (entirely possible lol), let me know.

2006 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q7.
\(\bullet\)  In Q8, change the word "normal" to "line perpendicular".
2006 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q4, Q7, Q10 and Q11.

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q1a.ii, Q1d and Q2b.

2007 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q4.
\(\bullet\)  In Q9a, change the word "normal" to "line perpendicular".
2007 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q6, Q8 and Q14.

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q3c.

2008 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q6.
\(\bullet\)  In Q7a, replace the phrase "mode of \(X\)" with the phrase "value of \(x\) for which \(\Pr(X=x)\) is greatest".
2008 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q2, Q11, Q16 and Q21.

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q1b.iii and Q1b.iv.
\(\bullet\)  In Q4a.ii, change the word "normal" to "line perpendicular".

2009 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q6 and Q10.
\(\bullet\)  In Q2a, apply the restriction \(x<1/2\).
2009 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q10, Q14 and Q20.

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q1b, Q1e.i, Q1e.ii, Q1e.iii, Q3g and all of Q4.

2010 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions.
2010 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q3, Q5 and Q18.
\(\bullet\)  In Q22, replace option D with \(\log_e(2x-4)\).

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q2c.

2011 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions.
\(\bullet\)  In Q2a, apply the restriction \(x>4/3\).
\(\bullet\)  In Q5, change the PDF to the following: \[f(x)=\begin{cases}3-x & 2\leq x\leq 3\\ x-3 & 3<x\leq 4\\ 0 & \text{otherwise} \end{cases}\]
2011 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q7 and Q16.
\(\bullet\)  In Q17, change the word "normal" to "line perpendicular".

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except all of Q1.

2012 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except all of Q5.
2012 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q17, Q21 and Q22.
\(\bullet\)  In Q9, change the word "normal" to "line perpendicular".

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q3b.ii and all of Q4*.
*Technically, all of Q4 except Q4c.ii can be attempted, but the question isn't really relevant anymore.

2013 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q9b, Q9c.i and Q9c.ii.
*Technically, one could still obtain the answers for Q9c.i and Q9c.ii, but if you don't know what the absolute value function is (it has been removed), it could just look confusing.
2013 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q8 and Q12.

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions.

2014 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions.
2014 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q7.

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q2e, Q2f, Q2g, Q2h and Q4g.
*Technically, Q4g can be attempted, but it's incredibly tedious without using matrices.

2015 Exam 1
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions.
\(\bullet\)  In Q2, replace "\(x\neq 0\)" with "\(x>0\)".
2015 Exam 2
Section A \(-\) Multiple-choice questions
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions except Q18.

Section B
\(\bullet\)  Attempt all questions.

I'm only doing 3/4 methods next year but I know this will be a super helpful resource for all current and future 3/4 methods students.
Thank you!

Hey everyone, my apologies for not updating these regularly. I've been pretty super busy lately, and haven't been on the forums. I just finished my last assessment for uni before exams, so I'll make an effort to finish off the rest ASAP :)

I know it's a bit late, but this resource is finally done :)

Lemme know if I've screwed up. If I have, I'll fix it when I can.

Fun fact, the changes to 2020 pretty much remove what they added in this study design, so it's basically all the same...

If a question mentions a random variable that ISN'T binomial, Bernoulli, or normal, you can ignore it. Otherwise, everything else is the same.
