working while studying eng/sci

Based on your experiences as engineering and/or engineering science students, how did you find the workload in first year and can you give a ball park figure as to how many hours you spent studying a week?

As someone who is aiming to do well, would you say that working alongside studies is manageable?

Bit of background, I do currently work on campus at about 8 hours a week but I think it may go up to 15 hours a week after I'm trained. I feel conflicted because this is a good job but I also want to do well and am feeling a bit behind on uni work.
