Hey, Sarahxx16!

Here's how you would break down each question.

1. How important is Eckermann's use of language in the poems to help convey tension between individual and collective identity?

- This question requires a judgement on the importance of language in creating and conveying between the individual and the collective communities that they belong to. Tension refers to ideas such as conflict and displacement. Your essay would examine how these experiences are expressed in your text and how this impacts people personally and as a group.

2. To what extent does language play a role in affirming and disrupting cultural assumptions in your prescribed text?

This question bears key similarities  to the previous in how it examines language as a means of communicating ideas about culture and identity. The difference in this question is the judgement you have to make on how whether language affirms and disrupts cultural assumptions that are represented within the text, and that exist in the real world. The essay would explore stereotypes, norms, values, beliefs and other facets that contribute to one's identity and how language has been incorporated, manipulated and expressed to either confirm or challenge them.

3. In what ways has your study of cultural voices enhanced your perspectives of the social groups being depicted?

Cultural voices are central to this question. Your essay would explore how these voices are amplified or muted/silenced due to the cultural circumstances presented in the texts. The social groups you elect will serve as examples of how cultural voices can offer perspectives on how culture should be treated, nurtured and valued.

All these questions require you to recognise the role of the audience and how diverse, cultural identities affect them. You need to outline how your text educates readers on the need to accept different cultures and create a space for belonging and community to thrive.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions!
