Hi everyone  :)

I was just wondering what the weighting was on your first year marks for a gpa, or whatever it is they take to gain entrance into medicine. I am a nervous first year trying to get a handle of all things biomed, and I wanted to know if maybe I was putting unnecessary pressure on my self for amazing grades, when I should just be worrying about finding my feet.

Thanks so much in advance :)

Your WAM contributes 25% to your entrance score and your first year marks contribute 20% of that, so 5% overall.

Sorry but doesn't WAM contribute 33%? I thought it was equally weighted GPA, interview and GAMSAT.

Depends on where you go. At Deakin it does (if they haven't changed), but at UniMelb WAM is now weighted 25%, as is GAMSAT. Interview is 50%.

It is a pity for those who've done well with respect to their GPA and GAMSAT, but it offers others some hope I guess. In a practical sense, GPA and GAMSAT matter more than their respective contributions because they're used to determine whether one gets an interview.
