VCE Journal - Jayce/Di.dact

Hi, I found this thread really funny because I already started documenting my year 12 VCE life on youtube using the exact same title (if anyone is interested just type up Jayce or VCE Journal on YT and it should pop up).

Since, I'm all about documenting this seems to be the best place to reach more of a VCE audience.

Introduction:
Hi, I'm Jayce or Di.dact
I currently attend Elizabeth Blackburn School of Sciences and am a current Year 12.

My subjects are:
English Language
Methods
Specialist
Physics
Algorithmics (via DECV)
Biology (2018)
Extended Investigation (2018)

Goal: 90+ ATAR

Currently, I find these subjects interesting but, tedious due to the time required each day to complete them.
I'll aim to update this once a week in regard to how I'm doing in school, how I (attempt to) manage my time, what I learnt from the previous week, feelings etc. Since, I tend to journal or record the things that I've done.

I have interests in Computer Science, Business and T E C H N O L O G Y. After high school, I want to pursue a computer science degree to have fundamental knowledge of computer systems. Which I will use to start or join a tech company. I also have a passion for business since I like to resell things, am interested in the attention of consumers and how consumer behaviour is acting towards technology.

Looking forward to reading your VCE Journal throughout the year! Can't wait for your first entry!  :)
What interests you about pursuing a career in computer science?
Also, what made you choose those subjects for VCE?
EDIT: Just watched your Pre-year 12 video on YT and I must say that I love how you set it out. Like how you talked about the goals you want to achieve and improvements you want to work on.

Nice start to your journal! Besides making journal entries and reselling things, what do you like to do in your spare time?
VCE: Psych | Eng Lang | LOTE | Methods | Further | Chem

Hi,
Well to answer your first question. I’ve always been interested in creating things. From gaming clans, legos, videos and now coding. The next frontier for me would have to be the creation of applications and programs. So I want to pursue computer science revolved around the development of programs over existing medias. For example, since voice assistants will be bigger in the future. I want to create programs around that too make life more efficient. Tbh, I just want to automate all the meagre tasks.

For your second question, majority of my subjects are within the set curriculum of EBSS. Since we’re a science program they force Extended Investigation in year 11, 2 sciences (i did chem but dropped it) and 2 mathematics; methods and specialist.  Algorithmics was picked up because of my interest in computing and it provides credit towards a computer science course. I also picked up Physics because I’ll definitely do better than my poor Bio score in year 11. I also like the STEM subjects which is another reason why I chose to apply for EBSS and its curriculum.

Thanks for watchcing 😁. I do feel as though the videos have devited a bit from the intention of documenting VCE and how I feel. But, I do plan to readjust that soon.

Nice start to your journal! Besides making journal entries and reselling things, what do you like to do in your spare time?

In my free time, I either edit videos,  League of Legends (picked up again as a pass time with friends), read books (self-dev, philosophy, business or IT related books), manga or anime and socialise. I feel as though I need to realign or cut down on the things I do in my spare time. Since, I do want to achieve certain things and the amount of distractions/escapism prevents the achievement of some goals.

In addition, to journalling I like to determine the tasks which consume a lot of time and find ways to reduce time spent or remove it completely. I like to think of it as refining my “daily process” since habits are what make up our daily lives.

Although, I’ve learnt that i’m quite spontaneous in regards to my actions and use the refinement and schedules as guides to the day. Woops, I rambled a bit. Well, I hope this was interesting and I hope I answered your question :)
