Hey guys!

So unless you've been living under a rock (which I do constantly haha), you would've heard by now that Stephen Hawking has passed on. :'(

However the good news is that there's some interesting physics research has been published such as:
- Quasiparticles? Quantum gas? Read more here! (ScienceDaily)
- A thermometer for nanoparticles?! (ScienceDaily)
- Better control of long-distance lasers (ScienceDaily)
- More magnetic stuff... quantum style! (ScienceDaily)
- Galaxies spin like clockwork!!! (Phys.Org)

That's all, but happy \(\pi\) day y'all <3

Some news of interest for y'all! <3

- The lifetime of a qubit of graphene has been measured (ScienceDaily)

- A new way of fabricating nanoscale 3D objects has been found (ScienceDaily)

- Creating more efficient electronics using excitons may be possible (ScienceDaily)

- Understanding electron spin is key to understanding how cuprate superconductors work (ScienceDaily)

I encourage y'all to contribute noteworthy articles/things you find as well! ^-^

Two articles I enjoyed reading from ScienceAlert recently! :)

Learnt about the double-slit experiment in class and thought you'd never hear of it again? Well, a new X-Ray spectroscopy method based on it has been developed!
Summary
A research group has made an X-Ray spectroscopy method based on the double-slit experiment! It offers researchers a deep understanding of a solid's electronic structure. It will allow for future research into functions and properties of solids.

Nanofabrication and nanophotonics: serving a new use in making ULTRA ultrasound!
Summary
Using nanofabrication and nanophotonics, a more sensitive method of measuring ultrasound. This is done by making ultra precise ultrasound sensors- on a silicon chip. This technology will improve the ultrasound experiences in the medical and biomedical fields, as well as in applications such as sonar. Researchers hope that they can eventually hear/see using ultrasound small biological systems.

Some rather recent news from the ABC: The Opportunity Mars Rover mission draws to an end

Here's the playlist of songs that they also tried sending over to Oppy: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/50jcjl78RvcIgMdBM4qgFF

Already gone viral but still deserves to be announced - We now have ACTUAL photographs of black holes.

I've noticed that Physics, despite how cool it is, seems to be one of the less popular sciences :o

This calls for some interesting reading to spark interesting interest:
Scientists mapping the path of climate change (Phys.org)
Understanding and explaining democratic elections (Phys.org)
Nano antennas could allow processors to exchange data at the speed of light (Scitechdaily)
Taking an X-Ray of an atomic bond (Scitechdaily)

Enjoy  :D

Don't really remember the specific articles but just some of my own knowledge that I remember.

The first photo of a the blackhole actually complied with Einsteins theory of General relativity! Interestingly General Relativity even though it has a ton of Mathematical proof that makes sense it is still a theory and not a law. That is because a lot of the concepts are so abstract that we have no way of gathering substantial proof for all of the claims that it makes. However the theory passed a new test so it seems as though Einstein was definitely onto something!
