No tips really, just make sure you do everything you can. It's the least of any worries one can have.

I spent about an hour on each of my written pieces last year and completely took the piss out of them to get full marks for that component. Just try to be original and creative and have fun with them. But try to maintain some sort of relevance to the task.

Got 22/35 and 28/35 for the MC sections though so probably don't actually spend twice the recommended time for the written section like I did haha.

For these essays, do you have to do a properly structured expository or persuasive essay? Or can you do like a diary entry or editorial for part 1? Also, does anyone have examples?

No, you can do whatever you want, so long as it fulfills the criteria.

I got 40/40 for the written component so presumably full marks for that essay.

Did you include all the information that was presented in your monologue? How much creative elements did you include?

If you're like me and you have no humanities subjects, or you're doing 'The Asian 5', then I suggest you do this:

 - Read through the Mathematics questions thoroughly in the reading time.

 - Complete all Maths questions first. If you are a strong student this shouldn't take more than 30-45 minutes.

 - Return to the essays at the front. You should have just over 2 hours to left. Split that into an hour for each essay.

 - Make sure to write expository/informative type essays without retelling the given information.

 - In the last 5 minutes, go back to the multiple choice and fluke the remaining questions.

GAT complete. I did this last year, finished the GAT in under an hour and a half (couldn't be bothered with essays) and got 31/35 for the maths section. Break a leg end of year. :P
good tips I just wished I did that last year instead of trying for the full 3 hours like a naive year 11. Does anyone know how the GAT marking works? I got 33/35 for the maths and science section last year and got a 44 so Im guessing you need you need full marks to get a 50? but then how do they decide who gets a 45 or 49?
It gives you a standardised score. So it pretty much follows the bell curve. I finished the gat in under 90 minutes last year. It really shouldn't take you too long.

This is the first time I'm sitting the GAT.

Are we allowed a dictionary and calculator?
