Free Bio 3/4 help in July

Hey everyone,

We’re two 2017 graduates offering free Bio 3/4 tutes in July open to anyone, because there are lots of great lecture and textbook resources available but sometimes having that back and forth with someone else helps more.

The plan is that they’ll work like consults with tutors at uni where you drive the discussion with your questions. We’ll hang around for an hour or so, you hop on anytime within and
•   you can ask practice questions you’re having trouble with
•   we can give you feedback on responses you’ve written
•   we can clarify topics you request (however this is not a lecture series)
•   we can chat about other VCE or uni miscellany
•   limited help for other subjects as we prefer to specialise in Bio 3/4 sorry!

Fill in the Google Form if you’re interested (please submit by Thursday the 9th of July) and we’ll send an email with more details late this week. The tutes will be online, likely through Zoom, and probably limited to a couple of people at a time although we’re happy to hold a series of sessions.

Hi Anne and Anna!

I would love to consult with a tutor as I am definitely struggling with biology at the moment but unfortunately, I do the QCE syllabus of biology. Is this okay with you guys? I filled out a Google form just in case. I was just wondering because I noticed that most of the content in my syllabus overlap with the content in the VCE biology syllabus.

Thank you so much and kind regards,

Darcy Dillon.

This isn't 100% accurate but assume that unless these grads have studied ecology at uni they won't be much help with unit 3. Unit 4  however they should be mostly comfortable with, especially DNA, gene expression, mutations & biotech.

Be aware that VCE students require a shallower understanding of what a species is and how speciation works compared to QCE students. VCE bio is also much less quantitative than QCE bio.

Hi Bri,

For Unit 3, I'm actually pretty good with the content so I think that it's just Unit 4 that I would need some help on. But either way, Thank you so much for the information! I really appreciate it.

Have a great week and kind regards,

Darcy Dillon.

Hi Darcy,

We're definitely happy to chat and see whether we can help with anything, but as Bri MT said, we won't be very familiar with the exact breadth/depth of knowledge required by the QCE even if there is some overlap in content.
