Should I do Specialist?

Hey
I'm a year 10 student considering doing specialist next year for year 11. I'm currently completing math methods (or advanced year 10 math) where I'm getting 90-100% on each test as well as physics units 1/2. I don't really find it difficult to grasp new concepts in either subject because I've always had a rather good understanding of math. How difficult is spesh particularly units 1/2? Based on my description would I be able to cope with it? Also if I do decide to take on the subject, is there any early preparation I can do before next year starts?
Thank guys!

Yup I reckon you should definitely try it out

I did spesh unit 1 this year but found it fairly difficult to grasp and have therefore dropped it. In year 10 I was also averaging low 90's in pre methods. You can always try it out and if it doesn't suit you drop it for another subject later on in the year. Chances are if you can cope it will be an insane advantage to your ss. Topic also interlink with physics, so if you have a good understanding of physics spesh shouldn't be insane when studying topic such as kinematics. Seeing as your already doing physics 1/2 I think adding on spesh will be a really good combo. If you wanna start and prepare early I suggest you get a text book and start studying though that and reading all the theories and concepts associated with each topic ( eg: Geometry and Proof, Sequences and Series, Complex Numbers, etc)

Hey,
I would definitely recommend it for you as you're grasping methods easily, though it will be a little harder. If you do enjoy it and pursue it in year 12 as your 3/4 then that'll be great as well because it scales a lot. For preparation just buy the 1/2 textbook & start briefly reading through the topics & getting familiar with some example questions.

I don't see a reason to not give it a shot based on what you've said. :)
