Hi Joseph41!
How's it going, geminii?
I have a few questions
How much did you study for Bus Man? Was it an everyday sort of thing or did you allocate one particular day to one subject, or used some other method?
I love this question because it's actually comically difficult to answer hahaha. As I said, Business was my only 3/4 subject at the time (Year 11), so I probably had a trifle more time to spend on it than usual. I didn't study it every day, though, that's for sure - and I also tried to avoid long study sessions wherever possible. So I can't really put a time on it, and I can't really say "I studied BusMan 9 times a week". To be honest, that wouldn't be at all useful for you, either; I really think that it's best to just go with your gut.
To answer your question more generally, though, I tended to allocate, say, two subjects per day. I found that doing just one became tiresome, and trying to do numerous subjects made things a little confusing.
Did you do mainly practice exams, checkpoints, textbook questions, etc.? What was your main source of study material?
How and how much did you study before a SAC?
During the year, I spent a lot of time:
a) Making summaries of content;
b) Making (my own) mnemonics, and remembering those mnemonics; and
c) Teaching other people (and my mirror) that content.
Doing so gave me a pretty solid understanding of the content, giving me more time to then practice question answering. I didn't use Checkpoints much (just because I didn't have it - but apparently it's pretty useful). I upped the study before SACs and, primarily, the exam, mostly in the form of practice exams (as you alluded to). Something really important, though, is that I didn't just complete the practice exams. I completed them, then marked them myself, then got my teacher to mark them, and then re-did them with that feedback in mind. I improved a lot during this process, and learnt heaps.
Thanks so much!!
Sorry I couldn't be more specific; these questions are notoriously difficult to answer!
