Regarding buying and selling ExamPro study guides second-hand.
« on: December 02, 2012, 04:53:14 pm »
I just want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that second hand sales hurt AN. The target market is extremely limited, and every second hand sale really is a lost sale to us.

Obviously we're not upset that kids are trying to sell their old books to recoup some of their costs, and we're certainly happy that people are trying to save mum and dad some money by buying books 2nd hand. That's why we're happy to leave these posts up.

But if you love using this website, and want to support us, please buy the books 1st hand from us. It's the best way to show your love for us and the service we offer you guys.

Just for the purpose of discussion, what do you suggest people who have purchased the book do with it after they have finished using it?

I reckon AN should buy them back, and sell them to people that want them second-hand. Lower profit, but still profit nonetheless. Might be a bit impractical hahaha...

Edit: Maybe buy them back and sell/donate them to an underprivileged school?

If they're desperate to sell, maybe they could sell them to people who don't use the site, then tell them to go and buy the books for their other subjects if they find it to be a good resource (ofc they will :P)?

Just a thought, probably best to hear what the publishers think would be a good idea :)

Frivolous uses:
Probably makes an excellent coaster and/or paperweight. You could recycle it, burn it (plz don't burn books), frame it.

Useful uses:
Refer back to it if stuck on a concept at uni that's covered in VCE. Use it when you're tutoring students in 2013 and onwards. Build a library of your academic texts.

Yeah...for the Chem book...highly recommend buying the new upcoming edition - new exam format, extra exercises, better quality tests.

Plus, that book took a ridiculous amount of effort! Enwiabe, remember that one day when we were working about 8-10 hours non-stop trying to typeset?
