Physics Questions (1/2)

Hey Fellow Students,

I have a dilemma with the following two questions relating to applying thermodynamic principles

1.a If the Earth received incident energy at the rate of 335 W m-2 over each 24-hour period, what would be its surface equilibrium tempreture if it had no atmosphere?

b The presence of water vapour in our atmosphere plays a signifigant role in maintaining the earths warmer surface temperature. Along with incident energy from the sun, it combines to keep the tempreature at a mean of 11oC. How much power does it supply to each unit area of the earths surface?

Thanks.

Nick
