Usually I'd pop a state mod resignation into the leadership thread, but given the magnitude of impact this person has had on our community, I think a dedicated thread is warranted.

RuiAce, one of the first ever HSC moderators and one of the most prolific posters in the history of ATAR Notes, has decided to step down as a HSC Moderator. He will most certainly still be around, and so I'm sure will only build even higher on top of the accolades I'm about to rattle off down below. However, this represents a huge loss to the leadership team - Rui is arguably one of the biggest reasons why AN has been able to successfully expand into NSW. His presence has shaped AN for the better, and him stepping aside represents a huge moment in the AN timeline.

Perhaps the greatest evidence of the level of Rui's contributions is the fact that my browser crashes every time I try to load his post history. Go figure ;) from what I can see:

- Over 7300 posts. That's an average of nearly 10 per day for the last two and a bit years. Nuts.
- Over 1200 posts in each of the Mathematics and Maths Extension 1 HSC forums, and nearly 1000 in the Maths Extension 2 forum. Nearly 700 posts in the moderator section. Oh, and 500+ posts in HSC Chemistry, There's not many users where 500+ posts in a section is just a garnish.
- Close to 200 days of online time.
- Winner of several ATAR Notes Awards -> MVP HSC Maths in 2016 and 2017, and honourable mention for NSW MVP in 2017. Best of all, honourable mention for scariest mod in 2017 ;)

To put into perspective the sort of impact Rui has had, one in four posts in the Maths boards come from him. I don't mean lately, I mean when you take every single post and add them up, one in four are Rui. Insaaaaaane..
- Rui has also guided the leadership team as one of our most experienced state moderators (in either state).

One needs only to take a look around the HSC section for five minutes to see Rui's impact - It really has been monumental.

As Rui departs, I encourage everyone else to step up and see what sort of impact they can make on our community. Once upon a time, Rui was a lurker who probably thought that Jake/I's maths skills left a bit to be desired (;)) - But just by getting involved, he's now a part of AN-lore (not to mention an ATAR Notes author and lecturer). You never know where lending a hand could take you!

Thank you for everything, Rui, can't begin to say how amazing it's been modding with you (and keen to keep working with you irl)  ;D

I feel like a piece of the puzzle is missing now.

Wait, not just a piece, I think it's an entire corner.

You will be missed

You might be an HSC mod, but you've sure wormed your way into our little VCE hearts.

I suppose this is a “the end of the beginning” ahaha, RIP first generation of HSC state mods.

I still feel like ATAR notes was a huge stroke of luck. Seriously, it was almost 100% coincidental. I won’t bother posting up a life story (there’s probably one buried somewhere on here anyway). However, without a doubt this experience has been amazingly life-changing. I finished my HSC pretty much as an idiot with no life/social/soft skills whatsoever and this was the first big thing that happened afterwards. Over time I tend to forget what I’ve done in the past but looking at that list… when you put it all in the one spot it’s just wow. One of the best things that’s ever happened honestly.

As promised, I’m not disappearing – it’s not “THE END” the end :P. I still have many other commitments I want to make for AN, some being online and others being through, well you could probably guess given that list but I’ll just say “other means” ;). I’m always happily ready to work alongside Jamon, Nick and the rest of the team!

Sometimes I look back and wonder what would’ve happened if I never knew AN existed. I know for one I’d still be trying to figure out what’s my life meant to be in the grand scheme of stuff. Being a mod taught me how to lead, being an author trained my writing skills (as well as thinking about what a target audience wants), and being a lecturer pushed me WELL out of my comfort zone in Year 12 (heck, I had no idea how that first lecture would’ve went until I actually did it) and fixed up my confidence and ability to speak! So much delight in seeing it all pay off for others and not just me, really.

And of course, da bantz ;)

Keep being awesome everyone! Thanks for everything! I’ll see you all around!

Rui has been a legend throughout my time in AN, he has helped me a great deal with guidance on maths in particular but also other things.... I truly admire him as a person though I only seen him IRL like 2x.... His skills and understanding in mathematics is without a doubt outstanding....
