What have you listened to most this year? (Round 2)

This is Round 2 continuing from Nick's thread here.

Using either the SpotifyWrapped feature or just eyeballing it (earballing??), what are your top songs?

Top Songs from Spotify's 'Top 100' personalised playlist:
1. Saturday Night | Misfits
2. In My Head | Twinemen
3. Eternal Life | Jeff Buckley
4. Beneath | Amoral
5. Magnolia | Gang of Youths
6. You Look Like Rain | Morphine
7. Élan | Nightwish
8. Novae | Unexpect
9. Moment's Silence (Common Tongue) | Hozier
10. Summer Breeze | Type O Negative

Just like last year, I'm not sure how accurate this is -- most of these songs were spammed the first few months of this year, but I've definitely listened to others more. I can assure you the top spot should be Better Love by Hozier or This Momentary Bliss by Soilwork.

Spotify Wrapped:

Definitely skewed away from metal (my most popular genre) here, because I tend to listen to that from actual albums, as I have a pretty hefty collection.

If anybody is curious, here is my Top 100 Playlist that Spotify made me (sans personal details, thx Spotify).

give as much or as little musical detail as you want -- no need to post so much like I have here!

YES! Was going to make this thread, glad you beat me to it. :D

My top ten (apparently):

I Wanna Get Better - Bleachers
Don't Swallow the Cap - The National
What Do I Know? - Ed Sheeran
I Go Crazy - Orla Gartland
Iron Rivers - River Blue
Elevator Operator - Courtney Barnett
Suddenly - British India
No Hard Feelings - The Avett Brothers
Ketut Garing - Emoni Bali

Oxford comma, Garamond, Avett Brothers, Orla Gartland enthusiast.

My top ten from the playlist according to Spotify:
1. Let Me Down Easy - Gang Of Youths
2. How To Save a Life - The Fray
3. Human - Orla Gartland
4. Lovefool - No Vacation
5. I Wish I Was - The Avett Brothers
6. Magnolia - Gang Of Youths
7. Get Free - Lana Del Rey
8. Flesh without Blood - Grimes
9. Old Habits Die Hard - Allie X
10. The Greatest Show - Panic! At The Disco

But then my Spotify Wrapped says this:

Really interesting and somewhat inaccurate stats. A few songs at the bottom of my Your Top Songs 2018 playlist were songs I have never heard before.

2022: Science / Arts @ Monash

My top ten songs from Spotify apparently are:

1. thank u, next - Ariana Grande (absolute bop!)
2. Coming Up Strong - Karmin
3. Why Am I Crying - Molly Sanden (I started listening to it ironically after hearing it on Ja'mie Private School Girl but accidentally put it on loop oops)
4. I Don't Wanna Live Forever - ZAYN ft. Taylor Swift (makes an appearance again!)
5. No Promises - Cheat Codes ft. Demi Lovato
6. My Way - One Bit ft. Noah Cyrus
7. I Want It That Way - Backstreet Boys (started listening to it ironically but look what happened)
8. Technicolour Beat - Oh Wonder
9. Astronaut - Riverdale Cast (the only Riverdale song I can tolerate)
10. Stay - Zedd ft. Alessia Cara

Think my taste in music has been influenced by work since they always have the top charts radio on every shift and I learned to enjoy all these pop songs.

HOWEVER, my Spotify wrapped up image summary says otherwise~

With my top songs being:

1. All These Years - Camila Cabello
2. Consequences - Camila Cabello
3. Never Be the Same (Radio Edit) - Camila Cabello (I'm sensing a pattern here!)
4. Never Be the Same - Camila Cabello
5. Getting Over You - Lauv

Other stats according to Spotify
Spoiler
1. First song I listened to in 2018 was 'Evermore' by Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast soundtrack)
2. 53,345 minutes spent listening to music this year, which is 71% more minutes compared to last year
3. Spent 104 hours listening to my top artist; Taylor Swift
Which will hold greater rule over you? Your fear or your curiosity?

1. I hate you, I love you - gnash ft. Olivia O’Brien
2. Sad song - We the kings ft. Elena Coats
3. Revolution - The Used
4. Chin up kid - Forever the sickest kids
5. Just one yesterday - Fall out boy
6. Iridescent (acoustic) - Gavin Mikhail (linkin Park cover)
7. Just imagine it - MKTO
8. Unsteady - X ambassadors
9. A drop in the ocean - Ron Pope
10. Geronimo - Shepard

I don’t think that they’re necessarily my 10 favourite songs, but I do like them all - they also spent a lot of time in the playlists that I have on at night which is probably why they got into the top 10.

Apparently I listened to 4112 different songs.

Genuinely don’t know how the Avett brothers managed to get the top spot on that - probably because their songs were a significant amount of the songs I had actually downloaded before I went overseas lol. Kind of surprised Imagine dragons isn’t on that list, but it’s probably because I’ve only recently started playing their songs on repeat.

this is my top 100 playlist if anyone wants to listen.

(Not really sure why the top songs is different to my top 100 playlist lol)

Edit: I must have listened to loootttss of different artists because apparently I spent 280 hours listening to the Avett brothers out of about 3100 hours. That makes me even more confused about how they got the number 1 spot - maybe it’s not just based on hours spent listening.

Top 10:
[1:] The Way I Love You - Dante Klein
[2:] Always - The Him
[3:] What I Need (ft. Kehlani) - Hayley Kiyoko
[4:] Good Vibes - ALMA
[5:] Balenciaga - Cheat Codes
[6:] Mistakes - Basenji
[7:] I Like The Way - Tyron Hapi
[8:] Voulez Vous - Bali Bandits
[9:] Only You - KREAM Remix - Zara Larsson
[10:] Panic Room - Au/Ra ft. Camelphat

These are actually really surprising, some of my Top 10 I haven't listened to in ages.. must've been earlier in the year :P

They somewhat reflect my records on Last.fm which keeps track of all my spotify scrobbles anyway. I'd be interested to see how the algorithm works for this since Last.fm tells a different story... but nonetheless, it's good to get social with music :)

The top 100 songs is definitely flawed imo. Apparently, it could be because that list is not raw in terms of times played but weighted depending on how many times you listened to something in the same day or within a small time period. Also there could be a max number of songs from a single album/artist possible.

First song: Pnau - Chameleon
First artist discovered: Metro Boomin
Star sign: Taurus (Travis Scott and Adele)

It's actually fascinating, seeing everyone's separate music tastes.

Mine are:
1. Laughter Lines - Bastille
2. The Breach - Dustin Tebbutt
3. Chihiro - Yoste
4. Kolniður - Jónsi
5. Believe - Mitch King
6. Human - Orla Gartland
7. Only One - The Score
8. The Resistance - Skillet
9. Rainy Forgiveness - Changed Habits
10. Green Light - Lorde.

(All of the classics like Take On Me, Go Your Own Way and Time After Time are just below; more metal/rock a little further down ^_^)

Apparently, at 30,425 minutes I have listened 521% more than last year. Around 4.6% of this year, according to the stats, have been in the last week alone, so that tells me a lot :o

Yeah, this is so true, I listened to one song and one song only at the start of the year for a solid two weeks, and it's back to haunt me :)

But apparently I listen to too much Panic, Imagine Dragons and The Vamps. Imagine Dragons takes up nearly 11% of my playtime :)

Spent the large majority of my time listening to Spotify offline on my phone via downloads so I have no idea if that was incorporated in. Indie/Rock/Pop were my top 3 genres, which makes sense given that I describe my music taste as 'indie rock/pop' lol

Unsurprisingly Vance joy repped the top songs big time.
