well as you all SHOULD know
the midyear psych exam is coming up in about 6 WEEKS!!!!

So where is your class up to know....or more importantly WHERE ARE YOU UP TO???

Our class started the final AOS (states of con) last week and we should have it finished in 2 weeks

Me personally, I've just been crusing with Psych and studying for SACS... the only real step ive taken towards studying for the midyear is getting lots of practise exams... ive attained about 7 now (including the three from VCAA 05 to 07)
no real prep for the exam yet, but this week im planning to go back to the first AOS and review that...

What about everyone else, where are you up in class and where are you up to personally???

if you havnt already started studying for the midyear, when do you plan to start????

all thoughts IN HERE!

We finished A.O.S 2 and then we just finished A.O.S 1 last week. We have the sac this week and I have finished all my notes for unit 3..Im confident for the exam and think that I should get what i want.

I have done all the VCAA past exams for practice and would recomment the QAT and TSSM exams..

I believe it's only five weeks to go D:

As for what I'm up to...we should be starting AoS 3 on Tuesday. I've started studying a bit, but plan to get more intense this week.

Im up to A.O.S 3, yet it seems everyone is just beginning it as well. I usually 'cruise' through classes as well, stay ahead of everyone else and learn at my own pace. Im revising AOS2 Now, which take a week in detail, next week AOS3 and then last 3 weeks practice exams.

I also have my mid year lecture coming up :):):)

my school completed AOS3, then 2, and now we're up to 1.
can anyone outline exactly what we need to know in terms of research methods for unit 3?
i know about the indep. and dependent variables, extraneous, ethical principles - i can't recall many others from the top of my head

You need to know the following:

Participant selection:
-Random sampling
-The strenghts and limitations of the above
-Stratified sampling
-The strenghts and limitations of the above

Participant allocation:
-Control groups
-Experimental groups

Extraneous variables:
-The difference btw extraneous variables and confounding variables
-Placebo effects
-Experimenter effects
-Single-blind procedure
-Double- blind procedure

reasearch designs used to minimise the effects of extraneous variables in experiments:
-Repeated measure design
-Matched participant design
-Independent groups design
-Critical evaluation of experimental designs

Ethical principles in the conduct of psychological research:
-The role of the experimenter
-The use, protection and security of:
 -Participant confidentiality
 -Voluntary participation
 -Informed consent
 -Withdrawal rights

Recognition of how ethical considerations are applied in psychological research.

Good luck with you exam revision!!!!

How do you know that? Is that on the study design?
