Ok well I was wondering, if I didn't get into teaching, and decided to do say a business degree or something, then transfer, how would I go about doing so?Is it possible? Sorry I just don't know these sort of things...I heard that you could do a degree, and then get a graduate diploma or something like that in teaching... I'm a little confused
Thanks in advance ^_^

Hey, yeah I think doing a business degree then doing a teaching postgraduate diploma/degree is a much better idea! That way you have the background qualification to actually be a VCE teacher. The undergraduate teaching course is probably pretty bare and I'd assume it only sets you up for elementary and low-level high school teaching.

yeah the usual path is that you do a regular degree, and then do a diped = diploma of education

It takes the same amount of time to do a double degree with teaching + business as it does to do business first then the dip ed (both 4 years). The only difference is if you do the double degree, you'll get a bachelor of teaching instead of a diploma and in the double degree you do less business units than what you would if you did a single degree.

Here it is:
http://www.monash.edu.au/study/coursefinder/course/2026/
If only it wasn't so far away :(
It has the exact subjects I want to teach, bus.man, accounting and economics ...
Maybe I'll do a commerce degree then a postgraduate degree in teaching =)

That makes you sound like a pedophile... LOL

Nah, I want to be a teacher too, but it's the whole underpaid thing. Private tuition is better, or possibly being an academic and teaching at tertiary level would be more attractive.

Lol. Ew

Nah but seriously same thing that you said is what I think.
The whole underpaid thing kind of puts you off. I'd love to see my students succeed though. Would be such a cool thing to witness :)

For me teaching isn't about the money, it's all about being able to help students to grow and develop into adults =) Prepare them for the real world, sorta thing.... Later if all goes well I'll open my own tutoring business, or something like that =) or work for a tutoring company.
