Title: picking up spesh?
Post by: sbeccia on March 13, 2019, 04:47:59 pm
hey everyone!!!

so basically it's almost the end of term 1 and i am realising i actually have 0 interest in chem whatsoever. although everyone (even teachers) forced me into chem solely because it opens up more opportunities. i completely understand where they're coming from, although i know for a fact that at uni i want to study aero/mech engineering - i've also looked at the handbook for the course i want to do and honestly i feel like i would benefit more from spesh (which is what i originally wanted to do over chem) because its relevant to my course and i'm interested/good at maths (i'm doing methods 3/4 atm as well)

the only problem is that my school doesn't offer specialist because there isn't enough demand for a class and distance ed has closed and i would have to wait till semester 2 to pick it up...

so pretty much what i want to know is:
- can i pick up specialist unit 2 without unit 1?
- if i can't pick up spesh, is it worth doing finishing chem 1/2 and then picking up specialist 3/4 in year 12?

Absolutely! Not from personal experience, but a friend of mine transferred to spesh in unit 2 and he's doing fine now.

Well, I don't really see a point in finishing 1/2 chem and moving to spesh 3/4. You've stated that you have no interest anymore in chem so why stick around and waste your time when you could put more effort in building on for spesh
