Title: Counting to 20 and other unlikely adventures
Post by: Erutepa on February 16, 2019, 11:35:46 am
Howdy partner and welcome to my VCE journey journal!
what a great title that I totally came up with

Now Settle settle. I understand your overwhelming excitement upon reading these words – honestly I wouldn’t expect anything else – I just ask that you save the autograph and photo requests till afterwards.

Now... Who is this handsome man you man ask?
Well I am Erutepa a.k.a ‘the count’ a.k.a ‘super Cool kid ‘ (except maybe not so much that last one). I started on here around halfway through last year, but only really became consistently active until around about the end of October. I am usually lurking around the highly intellectual count to 20 thread where I probably spend too much time don’t spend enough time, or around the bio boards when questions want an answering.

Academically speaking (hi academically, my names Erutepa), I am a year 12 this year and am doing Method, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology and English in addition to having completed Biology last year. As you can see from this fairly focused subject platter, my passions are for that of the visual arts (haha, that is a joke – I love science).

So what next…
…sure, let's do some subject overviews, goals ‘n stuff

Subject overviews, goals ‘n stuff

Biology [completed]
Bio was (and still is) my favourite science subject and I just loved all of it completely. I'm not sure what I actually wanted to achieve going into the subject, other than to enjoy it and get decent marks. I didn’t really know how any of the study score stuff worked and didn’t really think about the end of year exam - I just mainly focused on the subject knowledge itself.
Anyways…  I ended up with a pretty good result (a 44 raw) but, more importantly, developed a stronger love for science as well as gaining a better understanding about how to better approach my 3/4 subjects this year.

Methods
I would like to say that I am fairly decent at methods. It’s not my best subject, but I seem to get along with it pretty well – a ‘sometimes each lunch together, but not like BFFs’ kind of thing. As such, I Just plan to do the work and think I will get a decent mark at the end of it all, but I won't peruse it with the same passion as some of my science subjects.
The teacher that I have this year is the same I have had for the last two years as well as in year 8 (so this makes it my 4th year of math with them). I guess this could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it, but I think they are a good teacher and we seem to get along well. (fun story break: every time she leaves the classroom to get something from her office, without fail, she will whisper to me (and only me) that she is leaving).

Chemistry + Physics
I put these two subjects together mainly because I feel the same way about them and because this is my journal and I will do what I want (fyte me). I love both chemistry and physics with quite a passion (not as much a bio though). While I  think they are a good challenge for my abilities, I still think I can get fairly high study scores in both of them.
My chem teacher is very nice and extremely supportive of our class. She has already told me that I am going to get over 44 in chem this year and i'll take her word for it. My physics teacher is brand new to our school which did caused me a bit of worry when I first heard, but now that I have had a few classes, I feel much more comfortable.

English
English is no doubt my most stressful subject this year mainly cause I think many of the skills within the subject don't come quite as naturally to me as do those of science subjects (Plus I h8 writing essays). Nonetheless, I still enjoy analysing texts and put the effort in to get decent results.
This year's English teacher I have had previously in year 8 and 9, and we get along quite well. She is focuses her class around class discussion (which is something that I like), but most importantly she is a fantastic baker of desserts (which she brings in after SACS and exams).

Outside of school
This year I do not want to drop everything for my VCE subjects if I can help it, and would love to continue doing activities outside of school as well as working for dat cash money. Currently I do quote a bit of running as well as work a few shifts per week as a swim teacher for little people. This equates to about 3 hours of stuff  after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as well as most of Saturday afternoon  and Sunday morning. While this certainly could be more hectic, I think my schedule is pretty full and finding time for procrastination is getting much harder (techno you may have to help me with this one). We will see how this balancing act goes and I may need to cut back on some running (although would never stop it) to make more time if necessary.

What you've missed
So this was the conclusion of week three of school for me. We started on the 31st and had a short first week which wasn't much more than the teacher giving us extra time to complete holiday homework. Cause I am a good boy ;D and did all of my work over the holidays, I was able to get a little bit ahead on work.

For English over these first few weeks we jumped straight into preparing for our first SAC which is the creative response. We are basing our work of that of the Australian poet Peter Skrzynecki. So this meant analysing his work, then jumping onto our planning and drafting. I completed my final draft yesterday, with the final piece due this coming Friday.

In maths, chem and physics we just kept on working through content. For physics we completed circular motion and projectile motion; for chemistry we complete fuels; for maths we did basic function stuff.

Have you noticed how I dont''' realy,' know how;;; to use grammar yet() or spel too safe me Lyfe

In psych we worked pretty intensively over course commencement on the topic of stress, so that upon returning this year, it was pretty much just revision for the stress SAC which I did this Monday just gone. I think I smashed it (not literally though - I'm not a destructive person) and am happy with how I did it, I now just need to be  wait for results to be returned to shatter my hopes and dreams. We have since begun working on the brain n'stuff
And now you are pretty much up to date... Yay!

Sorry the start of this journal is so belated - I was putting posting it off for a while (most of this was written last month... Yikes :/)

I shall hope to update you at least once before the end of the year, but that's a big promise to make and one I'm not sure I am capable of keeping ;D

I was wondering when you'd make a journal! Gotta say, that's a heck of an introductory post! :)
So keen to read more! ^-^

Dude, this is a pretty awesome (& entertaining!) VCE journal. Congrats on the 44 Bio score, that's a great start!

What are you shooting for, ATAR wise?

I am against guns in general, so I won't be shooting for anything. ;D
I am hoping to go into a bachelor of science in the future times (hey that would have been a good thing to put in the first post, dummie) so the actual ATAR requirements are nothing insane and I feel pretty confident that I will get that (touch wood). I'm really just going to try my hardest, whilst still enjoying it all, and see what the highest ATAR I can get is (high 90's would be welcome).

Also, thanks for the compliments on the VCE journey journal - It makes me happy to know that people find my stupidity funny.

Da weekend (16th and 17th of Feb)
Didn't do much, or if I did, I can't remember it.
Good summary!

Monday 18th of Feb
Mondays are my busiest days with my schedule consisting of double psychology, double chem and then single maths and English. Only got about 5 hours sleep the previous night, so it made the day go by extra smoothly!
In psych we covered neurotransmission across the synapse which I enjoyed very much so (very biology related content). Our psych teacher tries to make our homework as fun as possible so it was my task to either write + perform a song about neurotransmission, or draw some art. Since I am a natural-born artist with mad drawing skilz, I chose to do the latter (unfortunately it is submitted to my teacher and you will have to just trust me when I say it may be the single finest work of art to come from of a human hand).
In Chem we did redox reactions and textbook questions - honestly thrilling stuff - and In maths we did transformations. To fish the school day, English consisted pretty much of just continuing to write our creative SAC due this Friday.
After school I had a brain-melting shift at work which meant afterwards I didn't really feel into doing homework. Nonetheless, I managed to do a bit of math and physics (at like 12 at night....) but would have liked to do more.

Tuesday 19th of Feb
Rolling into the day with another 5 hours sleep, I actually felt pretty good considering. We started off with double physics and went over the theory of elastic potential energy and followed it up nicely with a little play around with springs and weights, making a nice force-extension graph. Out my three springs which I named Alecs, clairance, and Bryan, Clairance gave the best force extension graph.
We then had a double period which In which I am convinced that time collapsed cause it went by so fast. After time fixed up its whole thing, we had math and a test (which I totally remembered we were doing) on "cordnate geormty" as was its title. Anywho, I was the only one to finish the test which was massively surprising.
After school I had to organise my life by filling in a bunch of forms and paperwork (woo hoo!) and then quickly did a bit of chemistry for my Practical SAC I had today (on Wednesday). I then left in the to go do some running around in circles fastly for the rest of the evening. Got back at aboot 11 and went sleepies almost right away.

Wednesday 20th of Feb
I woke up feeling so exhausted and needing at least an extra day of sleep but downed some coffee and was ready to run through a wall (disclaimer: no walls were hurt in the making of this journal). At school, I jumped into English where we did a language analysis essay under test conditions (apparently we will be doing one of these every couple weeks or so). I did pretty horridly since I was out of practice, but I guess that's something to improve on. We actually did good old calmer café from last year’s exams.
Then I hoped into chemistry and did the SAC where be burnt some fuels n stuff and wrote stuff about burning some fuels n stuff. I think I did well on the SAC, but alas I think I may lose marks for the messiness of one of my graphs ;(.
At lunch I found some bread and ate it, followed by a period of psychology where we all held hands and timed the classes reflexes (that was pretty much it haha).
Finishing a period early, I went off to do some chores around town and returned home to eat some fish fingers and custard while watching Dr. Who. I am now sitting down and writing this. And writing this. And writing this.
After finishing writing this, I will get cracking with the homework (hopefully finishing my creative English piece for Friday and getting to do some physics and maybe maths)

I know I said that I would probably update this once per week, but I wanted to procrastinate and I chose to do something vaguely useful ;D
As always, enjoy the spelling mistakes and bad grammer,
Me

Thursday 21st of Feb
Had math first up where got back our tests on "cordnate geormty" and I got da top mark in da class - honestly don't understand how, but I'll take it (not sure where to tho). My only mistakes were minor maths errors like deciding to chuck in a negative sign somewhere or forgetting how to add to simple numbers. After getting our tests back we just continued with book work, however ended spending most of my time myself trying to explain to half the class this one question on the test that was a bit tricky.

We then jumped into physics and, after apologising for the accident (which was totally physics fault - it shouldn't have been standing where I was jumping) got into doing some questions on energy calculations (spring potential, kinetic and gravitational potential). I had a few brainmelts with some questions, but got through everything in the end.

By the time psych came around, I was feeling very very tired. We covered content of unconscious and conscious actions and went into answering questions. I'm fairly sure most of the class was spent staring at a worksheet and watching the words do a little dance for me. Need more sleep.

Went off to do some more stuff n' things after school (namely running)
When I got home I pumped coffee into my blood and was ready to work. I had a unfortunate amount of my creative SAC (which was due on the Friday) left to complete, so that is what I focused on.

Friday 22nd of Feb
Why past me didn't finish that English I don't know, but I certainly hated him 4 it. I ended up having to complete my English in my free periods on Friday morning, which were originally reserved for sleeping. Oh well...
At school I had chemistry where we did a little test on redox reactions (I think I done gone goofed it up) and in physics we continued with work on energy calculations.
In my double English we got time to revise out creative pieces, and so I sat down and changed about 3 words and called it a day.
After all that Jazz, I went to work and then spent the evening doing who knows what (I certainly don't)

Saturday the 23rd
Gotten tired of writing, so this one is a drawing
(https://imgur.com/hBbdCLE.jpeg)
I'd say its pretty clear how my day went

Sunday the 24th
Pretty relaxed day. Had work, then hung about at home doing bits and pieces of homework and other stuff.

Monday the 25th
Today was a pretty good day. Had Psych first up where we dove into Parkinson's Disease. I find Neurodegenerative disorders quite fascinating, so I found that class most interesting.  At the end of the class we got out SAC results back from the stress SAC from a few weeks ago. I got 2nd in the class with a 94%, So I'm pretty happy with that.
Moving into chemistry class, we also got SAC results back, and this time I got 3rd in the class with a 93%, so also happy. Apart from that, we went over the theory for galvanic cells and what not (which I thought was pretty interesting).
In maths we continued working on transformations, and in English we discussed values and views which were contained within the book Frankenstein.
At the end of class I found a balloon. That was probably the highlight of my day.
So off to work I went, returning to eat some curry and do a little bit of math homework, but mostly just relax cause work got me very tired.

So here we are again, all caught up...
Until other things happen, and then this will be out of date again.

P.S. I am very tired, so i'm saying with a fair degree of certainty that the quality of this entry went downhill quickly to a state of potential incoherency.

P.P.S I now am the proud owner of a fez

Nice work on "da top mark in da class"! Haha.

P.S. Just want you to know that this part genuinely made me chuckle:

We then jumped into physics and, after apologising for the accident...

Guess who's back?
Yes, It's me, your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman count back with another monotonous journal entry

Sorry for the lateness, but...
I procrastinated hard and neglected this Journal
I wanted to save the euphoric experience of writing this here journal entry until this current point in time for obviously logical and sound reasons.

So... How's my VCE Journey going?
In all, pretty good and honestly a bit surprised that its week 7 already. I was told that year 12 would go by in a flash, but never really believed it. However, it seems to be running along quite speedily (not as fast as me though hehe) which is both exciting and worrying. In fact, today I just completed my last SAC for the term, but you will hear more about that later (bet you are on the edge of your sitting surface with excitement and anticipation...)

Generally, I've been keeping up with the work and in some cases working a little bit ahead, but most importantly I've been enjoying myself and have so far maintained my sanity intact. Of course I have stressed a bit about upcoming SACs and what not, but my stress levels have been pretty low and I would attribute that to maintaining a good balance of work and play as well as having some great emotional support around  ;) ;) ;).
On a semi-related-semi-unrelated note, My sleep hasn't been too bad recently - much better than the consistent 5 hours I was getting earlier in the year. Now I'm getting a fairly regular 7 hours - sometimes a bit more and sometimes a bit less. 7 hours is still probably not that good, but its getting there and I honestly feel pretty good off 7 hours sleep.

Because I'm not feeling masochistic today, I'm not going to go through a summary of each day for the last 3 weeks - however much fun you all will have reading through a mountain of tiresome recounts - but will instead just give a summary of whats been popin' in each of my subjects. If you would prefer otherwise, please go off and find an alternate reality where I do fulfil your dreams, but note that this version of me here is undeniably the coolest and most radical.

INGLYSH
We have been proceeding at a fairly steady pace through analysing and discussing Frankenstein (hehe). Most of our classes for the last few weeks have been a collage of reading a section of the book as a class, discussing themes, doing a little bit of a writing task and doing some prescribed reading from the teacher. We have also done a couple of practice essays as we develop our understanding, and while I have not gone overly well in them, they have given me some motivation and some areas to focus my study on. Apart from that, I'm really quite enjoying Frankenstein itself and think it is a great book (which always helps if you are going to be stuck with it for a while)
The other day (which really just means that I can't remember) we did get our SAC results back from our creative responses. I got a 25/30 which I wasn't all that overjoyed with. Apparently that's a really good mark according to my teacher, so I will have to take her word for it, but am still a little disheartened. Hopefully I can use that as fuel for a better next SAC!

FISICS
We have just finished off motion and all that stuff. Starting the year and hearing that we were to encounter "special relativity"  I was honestly a little worried, but as it turns out it really wasn't that hard at all. I managed the content learnerizing pretty dandily and got through it fairly fast which allowed me to do plenty of exam practice questions. This is something I hope I can continue to do in Fisics and carry across to my other subjects where this same initiative is perhaps a little lacking. But anywho, I had my motion SAC today and was grateful that I did so many practice question because it really helped me get everything done in time. Most of the class apparently didn't complete all the questions and the general attitude of the class was that the SAC was a bit of a challenge.
Next class (whenever it is - cause I can't remember) we will be moving on from moving and into fields and all that crazy stuff.

KEMISTREE
We are chugga-chugga chugga-chugga choo choo-ing (thats 4 thank) along at a decent speed at the moment in chemistry. Last week we finished the theory on galvanic cells and did a few little tests on that knowledge (which I did with success) before we moved along to reaction rates and equilibrium. Reaction rate has been fairly easy since it seems pretty logical and also was partially covered through looking at enzymes and reaction rate in biology last year. However, rate of reaction is newer and unknown content that I am currently wading my way through.
[It was at this point that I started to drift of to sleep and so I decided to throw some caffeine into my blood and delete the incoherent string of numbers and letters that I mashed on my keyboard]
I think thats everything that I wanted to say about Chem, so I'll make like a tree and leaf it there.

MAFs
Specifically, Mafs Mefods.
We aren't quite chugga-chugga chugga-chugga choo choo-ing very fast in methods right now. We are still mostly revising basic(ish) algebra from last year and as such, its been pretty easy. The only new thing I have encountered so far is matrices which seem simple enough, but frustrate me because I can never set them out to actually look nice in my workings. Apart from also doing occasional tests and receiving decent results, there isn't much more to say about maths really...

SIGHCOLOGIE
Psych is plodding along at a good pace at the moment. Since we last chatted, I have completed my SAC for the nervous system and got a 94% which (I believe) was potentially equal top mark perhaps maybe. Regardless, I am happy with that mark, but still a little annoyed because the mistakes that I made were just little thinks here and there which I probably shouldn't have made (at least they weren't holes in my knowledge though...).
Now we have bitten into learning and memory which has a sweet initial taste as we cover the neurological basis of memory, however I presume will become a bit more savory as we head into all the different non-biology related stuff (HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I LIKE BIOLOGY ;D).

Concluding Thoughts
I'm very tired and don't know what to think of this vomiting of words which I hope holds some meaning and, better yet, a chuckle or two or three or four or five or six, but not seven (seriously, you would probably be wanting to see professional help if you think this was worth 7 chuckles). Realistically though, this is probably riddled with mistakes, but I'm tired and I hope you can forgive me for this unforgivable crime against humanity

THIS 120 KILOGRAM MAN LOST 20 STONE IN JUST 2 WEEKS USING THIS ONE SIMPLE TRICK - READ THIS JOURNAL TO FIND IT OUT.

So… It's been a week since my last entry and since I had a fairly free evening, I thought I would put on my writing gloves and throw some fully sick words down onto your screens (so please don't read them, I don't want them spreading their illness to you)

To give a general overview of my life at the moment, I would say pretty fantastic. School is pretty relaxed at the moment with no imminent SACs, so I'm just moving along through content and questions and enjoying it all. I'm not being overwhelmed by homework and study and I still seem to have the upper hand on stress. Outside of school, my running is coming along nicely and seeing good improvements for my big comp next week in seed knee (ewwww, I know)

And know to give you are little overview as to what is up in my subjects this past week… In alphabetical order (don’t ask me)

Cause I'm hip and like to change things up cause YOLO SWAG 360 NoScoope™, I'm gonna write in dot points
Chemistry
 -  Completed reaction rates and have moved through equilibrium and all that jazz. There's not much to say about this - Its kinda fun, but you can't really be that excited about it honestly (it's no biology, that's for sure)

English
 - We've continued with analysing Frankenstein and I've enjoyed that thoroughly. I am particularly liking the class discussion where I can practice speaking in front of people without dying of embarrassment. I'm still really bad at oral presentations and am not looking forward to my speech I'm going to have to give at some  stage in the future (I would know the date if I was actually organized - oopsies)

 - We have also worked through language analysiserizing and did a couple practice essays (one in class, one at home).

 - I have realised now that I really should start doing my own practice essays at home (especially for Frankenstein), but am still searching for the motivation to do so.

Maths
 - I still feel like I am revising content from last year and we've almost finished term 1. I don't know if that’s a good thing or not, but methods is seeming pretty chill at the moment.
 - That being said, we did do a test on polynomials using the CAS and I have realised that I am absolutely shocking with the CAS. I knew what I had to do, but everything I did on the calculator just gave me cranky errors and at one stage I displayed multiple applications in split screen and I couldn't get it to go back to normal. Needless to say, I did not do well on that test…

Physics
 - We got the motion SAC back and I was 2nd in the class with a 91%. Pretty happ E about that
 - Since then, we've now sunken our fangs into fields which is pretty funky. Suddenly physics has become 90% sign language what with ways to remember the directions of forces and what not (the FBI mnemonics)
 - and
 - that’s
 - all
 - I
 - got
 - to
 - say
 - bout
 - physics

Psychology
 - We are still going with memory and learning, and learning it all in a rather erratic and all-over-the-place-style. We're Jumping from this bit in chapter 7 here back to chapter 6 to chapter 203 and then back to the future and it's all very disorienting, but I'm hanging in.
 - We covered Alzheimer's disease a few classes back which was exciting because I had done a fair bit of reading on that (namely the implication of the complement in the disease, and other immune elements) but strangely enough none of that was even close to being talked about (BIO COME BACK! YOU CAN BLAME IT ALL ON ME! I WAS WRONG AND I JUST CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU!)

NEXT EPISODE:
Looking into the future… (yes I can do that - its pretty craz E)
 - I have 2 days left of school this term since I'm away Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to run in circles (and occasionally jump) for just under 10 minutes.
 - I'm pretty excited about holidays cause I can meetup with some kool kid
 - Also looking forward to the AN meetup so I can hopefully not sit awkwardly and actually initiate a conversation or two.

That should rap it up, yo dawg.
Sorry if this entry is disappointing, and you're welcome if it is the best thing since sliced butter.

:o reaction rates and equilibrium link to bio pretty strongly - hold strong until you get to the carbon monoxide poisoning part

Hope you have a great end of term :)

So far my weeks bean pretty amazing. Went up to Sydney for nationals and went pretty goodly there (or so I'm told). Then spent today hanging out with some kool kid and fell to sleep watching bambi.
But ill probably blab on about it more tomorrow night. So pencil it into you're calanders ladies, gentlemen and turtles.

Good evening… I've been expecting you. Yes you - right there behind that screen - with your human things like breathing and blinking and laughing and crying.

I know I said that I would post this on Friday, but since this was not posted in the "Accountability and Motivation" thread, I am legally not accountable for anything I say.

But anyways, as my grandfather never used to say, let's get this production on the motorway…

TERM WON has been defeated and now lies amounts the piles of other vanquished terms. My last week of school to conclude this term was rather unschooly in that I only had two days of school. Both were rather uneventful, or maybe they were super eventful but my memory was wiped by the alien race that may have abducted me. I think the latter is more likely though.

Apart from those boring/potentially non-boring days, I had three days up in sid knee where I competed at a national athletics comp (but if you have been noting down my previous entries, you would already know that). I ran in the 3km steeplechase (that’s the one with the water) and, after initial disappointment over my performance, think I went pretty well. While I was up there though, I got to meet up with some family and some family friends and drunk a 3 year expired soft drink and ate some ham had a coffee that was really hot so I burned my tongue but was having a conversation with someone who wouldn't appreciate an outburst of "OUCHIES!" so I had to hold in the tears and then we stopped having the conversation but then the pain had subsided and then I was all good. [for everyone who suffered through immense pain reading that sentence, I am not sorry].

Somewhere in that timeline of events up at sid knee, my mother back at home went to parent-teacher interviews. Apparently I'm doing just fine and should keep on doing just what I'm doing. so yay?

And finally…
Today I went to a couple of the lectures as part of this April's free ATAR Notes lecture series.
HAVE YOU GUYS HEARD OF ATAR NOTES - IT'S PRETTY RADICAL. THERE'S EVEN THESE FORUMNS AND THERE'S LIKE THIS 'ERUTEPA' ON IT AND HE'S LIKE MY LIKE IDOL LIKE HONEST BRUH. SOMONE SHOULD GIVE HIM A MEDAL.

Any who, I attended the chemistry in the morning and was very entertained by the presentation (the mixing of memes and humour into it was quite great). Then in the afternoon I went off to physics, and while there was a severe lack of memes, the presenter still was quite good at holding my interest with his energy n stuff. As a whole, I think the even was really smoothly run - can't say I wasn't a bit hurt when I wasn't given a shout out when doing the quick tour of the forums in each lecture though.
Between lectures I was able to meet up with a few users which was nice (even if I only really stood awkwardly, as per my usual). I also got to meet Joseph41 which is definitely in the top 43543 moments of my life so far (a story that will be passed down through the generations, I'm sure).

After those 6 hours of lecturing I had a quick tour of the tutesmart lair and was impressed - it was quite spiffy, although I disappointed with the lack of death lasers (or maybe they were just not on display today?). And after that I did some eating and then went off to a party and then went home and am now very tired and also tired, as well as being tired.
Bonus fun fact: I'm tired.

Hopefully this is coherent and not a pile of custard (although I would be  suprised if any of it made sense)

And your favourite type of milk? Unlike the ice cream question there is 100% a correct answer here.

Dear Dearest users whom are dearly dear to me,

I am writing to inform you as to my current state as of half-way (or thereabouts) through the holidays. Currently I am predominantly a mix of solid and liquids and while I do have gasses in me lungs and blood n stuff, I'm still conflicted as to whether to call them myself. If you have any thoughts on this, please promptly write back - however I will only accept responses written in comic sans.

Regaurds,
Me

Haha. Totally got you! Betcha thought that (above) was the whole journey entry when you saw me signing off, but little did you know... I was simply tricking you. What... a... prankster... I... Am...

Sooooooooo
This week has been fairly busy (but a good busy) and has given me a bit of a break from school which I have appreciated. I have still done a bit of homework here and there, but mainly have been occupying myself with other thangs - but you will hear more about this throughout this epic tale unfolding henceforth.
Last Saturday I was at the ATAR Notes lectures and they were pretty RAD (radical, not irradiated if you were wondering). I went to the chem one with in the morning and the physics one in the afternoon. I enjoyed both and got plenty of delicious information's and yummy learning experiences from them, but Jack's chem lecture took the cake (and I haven't been able to find it since).
On the Sunday after that I did work and some other things which I don't remember but probably were really cool and important and awesome so just imagine them for me based on my vivid description.
On moonday most of my day was spent at the meetup that you have probably heard about. It was lots of fun and I had fun cause it was fun. Haha fun, yes. Good times. Yeah.
Tuesday I was a little sick (not saying much - I'm always FULLY SICC BRUH) so I just kinda hung around home and read a little, slept a little and posted garbage on AN. I also managed to get out of the house to do my hazard perception test (I passed - hooray).
Wednesday I spent the day doing lots of walking, taking photos, spinning around on a plaground spinny thing, did some more walking, ate some honey chicken, more walking, drank some bad drink that was bad and then watched a movie.
Thursday and Friday I just kinda relaxed around the house - did some talking to the online peoples and did some maths homework.

Overall, as I previously said, A pretty relaxed week- at least in terms of homework. My overarching scheme for the coming week is to really wrestle down with the homework doing because I have a fair bit to get done.
Right now I currently I am sitting on a weird green couch thingo at the entrance of the ATAR notes lectures. The couch is a bit dirty and the table is fixed very close to the cough such that it makes the sitting down experience quite uncomfortable. I would rate 4/10.

Goodnight.

But honestly, my favourite part was probably just sitting around and chatting with the awesome people of AN  ;). Not to discount the hilarious fun I had hitting the ball well over your head and watching you run for it. Hehe

I've got the sicc wraps and I've got the wicked rimes,
But more importantly a journal entry - about thyme!

I've been a bit slack and haven't updated my journal for a while. My excuse can be any of the following options (you chose)
 - I've been busy trudging through mountains of fan mail
 - I got stuck in highly-viscous honey after disappointing a large bee
 - I was captured by foreign spies and had to escape using only a crumpled flower
 - I briefly metamorphosed into a pigeon and could not operate a keyboard
 - I was sublimated by a ticked-off wizard and only recently re-assumed a solid form.
- I was lazy

So as you can see, I have had good reason to take a break from this here journal…
But the holiday's over and your sufferance can now recommence!

Whats been up?
Not much exciting 2 bee honest. I've been consistently keeping up my running training and my work (for da monies) amidst the demands of schooling. I'm quite happy I've been able to balance everything generally quite well and have not had to cut back on anything. My stress levels have been pretty low recently too = good.
Excitingly, I have well surpassed the hour requirements on my learners and have passed the hazard perception test, so all I have left is the driving test which is booked for next-next Friday. Hopefully, I pass it and earn the privilege of a red letter P.
I still haven't been doing as much reading would like too. I've got a fair line up of some pretty interesting reads and would like to get through them. Poet, you need to hold me accountable.

[at this point of writing I did get up and retrieve a cool beverage and thought that I would give a special prize to the lucky fan who can guess the flavour of my beverage]

I shall now give a summary of what's been going on in each subject

Maths
I whizzed through calculus and am just going through plenty of exam-style questions for everything in unit 3. I really enjoy calculus - I think It may be my favourite part of methods. I'm not sure why. Maybe its cause it has some pretty cool applications or maybe its simply because I seem to grasp it pretty well.
So this week I'm just gonna continue with my revision since next week we enter the big boi SAC that is all of unit 3. Its CAS enabled, so I need to pick up the calculator and learn some skillZ. I seem to be pretty proficient when it comes to CAS free maths, but my inability to perform calculations on the CAS without errors beating me into sadness, makes the CAS enabled questions a bit less manageable. So I would say my main area in need of improvement is this proficiency with the CAS.

Chemistry
We've finished Unit 3 content and have since moved into some organic chemistry basics. Our chem teacher moves fairly quickly, which is good since I seem to be keeping up fine, but it does seem that some kids are being left behind. While we're going this organic chemistry, we are also planning and performing our experimental design poster SACs. I Like to think that I'm fairly good at writing reports and discussing experiments, so I'm feeling pretty comfortable with it. The only worry is the annoying 1000 word limit, where my planned introduction currently sits at about 500 words. I'm going to have to fix that, unfortunately, but I'm sure it'll all work out fine and dandy in the end.

Sorry to interrupt your reading - we will return to it shortly after this commercial break.
I apologise for the add - I've gotta pay the bills somehow. But anyways…

Physics
I'm just nearing the end of unit 3 physics and am focused on revising and consolidating all that knowledges. This mainly means going through exam-style questions and making sure there are no holes in my understandings. We had a Test the other day on fields + motors, and apart from a few small and silly mistakes, I went pretty well. I'm not too worried about physics at the moment - everything has been pretty relaxed. I am interested in moving into waves and stuff in the next unit though - I think that stuff is pretty interesting.

Psychology
Psych has been going really well for me recently. Much like bio, I just seem to have a good affinity for the content and find myself remembering stuff with fair ease. We got back our last SAC results for the memory and learning SAC we did the other day and I got the top mark (around 97%) which now pushes me into rank 1 for the cohort.
Apart from being moderately successful content-wise, I'm also really enjoying psych classes because the teacher is really engaging. Amidst all the content, she manages to fit fun little pracs in all the time. Since the last journal update, we operatively conditioned her dog to do some tricks for a couple of lessons and spent another lesson doing origami.
Today though, we moved onto unit 4 and started talking about consciousness and I am most certainly intrigued.

English
The Frankenstein SAC has come and gone since the last entry and I think I went pretty good in it. Based on the marks I got from my practice essays, I will probably be expecting around 85%. English is probably my weakest subject, but I still manage pretty well in it thankfully. We've since moved onto language analysis and stuff, so I've been pumping out a decent few practice analysis essays and been researching an issue for my oral presentation. My language analysis seems to be going pretty good, and I'm feeling pretty comfortable with it. For my oral persuasive thingo, I've tried to choose an issue that is partially grounded in biology, so I've picked the banning/stricter regulation of glyphosate insecticides (i.e round up). There's a fair argument you can make on either side, but I am fairly certain that I'll be opposing any immediate bans on these insecticides.
If anyone is well acquainted with this issue, I would love to hear your opinions on it.

Well… That’s all for today folks. As always, remember to like, comment, and subscribe! Make sure to click on that bell icon to turn on notifications too!

You whippersnappers better get off my lawn.

Hello good people of the Atar Noting.
I am back with another piece of fine literature
Here it is:

These last two weeks since my last post have been pretty relaxed. Last week we were just finishing off the last few SACs for unit 3 (if I remember correctly) and were searching for the holy grail (if I remember incorrectly). I think i went pretty well in those last few SACs, but will have to await results. Other than that, most of my classes  consisted of a bit of revision for the exams that we just had throughout this week just gone.
Talking about exams, I will now elaborate on these exam by talking about these exams using my digital talking process aka typing.

My exam schedule was quite cosy. We obviously had the Monday of this week off since the queen had a birthday (good old kwenie), but then Tuesday was strait into business. We had a 3 hour English exam up first but only had do to 2 essays (werid huh?), so I had plenty of thyme to relax and actually read over my essays (wild dude). After the English I then got to go home and relax a bit. On Wednesday I had the lovely GAT followed by my mathematics exam 2 (with the calculators). My math teacher were quite open about the fact that they couldn't really be bothered organising a unit 3 practice exam so they just gave us a unit 3/4 exam and said to try our best on the content we hadn't even remotely covered (oh well hehe). Thursday morning I had off, so I hanged out with Poet before heading into a physics exam on Thursday evening. On Friday I had a whopper of a day with 3 exams, starting at 8.30 and finishing at 5. These were chemistry, more maths, then psychology.  This made erutepa very tired and he went home and sleeeeepeded after eating tooo much pasta.

All throughout this exam period I was pretty happy with my ability to keep my stress levels down. Most of this meant trying to relax and recover myself between exams, so playing a little bit of videogames, hanging out with freinds and doind som reading!!! Actually reading!!!! Wow (thanks poet for the book recommendation)

Also, a funny thing happened on Friday too and here it is:
During a far too short break between exams, I went into the science office to ask a teacher a question and about 4 sceicen teachers all turned around and simultneously asked "are you here for me". We all had a little chuckle and then I said no and then went to a differenent teacher all together - PRankEd.
The funny thing has now bean explained. Hope you found it the funniest thing ever. If you do not like the quality of this funny thing, please contact my customer service department and we will prompty refund you.

Outside of school, Life has also been pretty relaxed. I've been training steadily and work has been creeping along. Infact, today I was off at a athletics comp called all schools which is a comp where school students  can compete to be selected for a state cross country team. I ran pretty well and was told that I looked increasingly fresher as the race progressed, funnily enough. My result placed me a few spots out of the automatic qualifying place for the state team, but I may just get in if some people opt out (either way I am pretty happy). But then as I finished my race a wild Poet appeared  and suprised me cause she just apeared... pop. Turnd out she was testing out her new red P's - so congradulations. Talking about red P's, I also got  mine the other day so to all those already on the roads - watch out, imma coming for you.

I wrote this all pretty quickly and instead of proof reading for all my spelling mistakes, I thought I could decorate my laziness as a little game called "count the spelling mistakes". The lucky fan who can count it correctly will win a prize - the only complication is that i do not know the correct number of spelling mistakes, so along with your submitted answer, I will be requiring you to state for yourself whether or not you are correct.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Oh hi there - didn’t see you come in. you caught me right in the middle of my singing practice, but I’ll put that on hold and talk to you all about the things that you came here to hear, dear.
Since the conclusion of my exams (where we left of last time), classes had gone along quickly as we smashed some unit 4 content (then glued it back together) before the end of the term. The end of the term came along pretty suddenly, at least in hindsight, with only one SAC. This SAC was the English oral presentation and I’d say that I went pretty swell in it. I believe my content was grandastical, but I think I lacked a bit in the gestures and being all confident sounding part. I wasn’t as stutter e as I thought though. Other than that, the last couple weeks of school are fairly vague in my mind.
Moving into the school holidays, I started them off excitedly with the AN lecture series. In total I went to 4 lectures and a panel event. Kicking them off was chemistry on Monday sidekicked by the prolific chemistry genius, Poet. Chemistry was great, in fact it was favourite lecture cause…. Jack. I also managed to get Jacks signature in my chem summary notes, so now the resale value has gone up approximately 12021%. On Tuesday I came in for a methods lecture which was very face-paced and melted my brains, then had English and psychology on Wednesday. English was a bit slower (which was a nice break) before Tim bombarded us with a fair heap of content in psych (although it was manageable).  On Thursday morning I came in for the science at uni panel event which I found quite useful. I got a few of my questions asked but also learned quite a lot from other’s questions.
For the rest of Thursday, I contemplated doing homework, but just ended up deciding to learn python (the coding language). I’ve been meaning to get into a bit of coding for a while (since computer science and stuff is cool and what not) so actually getting around to it is satisfying. I haven’t delved deep into it yet and I’ve only really learned the real basics, but it has hooked my interest and I think I’ll be continuing it.
Today I let myself sleep in a bit (hehe) and played some video games for once in a while, got a haircut which I am unsure about, did some homework, did some digital cleaning, did some analogue cleaning. In addition to this I consumed a disclosed number of calories and also sat down on approximately 3 different chairs (or chair like objects).
I hope this update has satisfied you, I will get back to my singing now. You can let yourself out.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Oh my goodness, just read this entire thread and honestly, what a journey! Love the authenticity and look forward to reading more! ;D
I'm glad you enjoy the journal, however, pro tip: you should not be looking forward to read more, you should look up.  8)

THERE I AM!
EVERYDAY

I don't think it changed the likely-hood of me following science - I was as certain as I could be about wanting to do science at uni already. However, it did give me some additional insight into more specifics as to what studying science will be like in terms of the degree structure and what different subjects are like to do.

Hi.
Now, I know what you whippersnappers are thinking – and you better stop with it now. I know its been a colander month and a half since I last posted here, but I have good reason: Time Dilation… You see, I have been doing a lot more running around a track recently and what with all the acceleration and how fast I run I have been experiencing time much slower than y’all. Its really only been one week for me so if you think about it, I’m actually quite punctual with this journal post… Its honestly just simple general relativity.
But boy has a lot of stuff happened since my last journal entry, most of which I have probably 5gotten (you see, not only did I just here use a number in a word (how radical haha wow so cool) but I used a different number to what would make sense (how extra radical hehe wow so coolest)). Ill try me best to see if I can pull out all the things from the old noggin.

Psychology
Psychology has been going strong recently. A little while ago we finished all of the year’s content and just this Monday we had out second to last SAC. I think my SAC average is sitting close to 98% so I am really quite happy with that and think psychology might end up being a really high scoring subject for me. I am most certainly glad I ended up making the last-minute change into it haha.
Our last SAC left is the EPI which our teacher is making us do over the next 4 weeks or so. The EPI’s for chemistry, physics and biology that I have already done were all completed in a couple weeks with (if I am being honest) the actual poster being written mostly the couple nights before. But for psychology, our teacher is making us hand in different segments each week and marking them, with these marks going to the total SAC mark. I think the total mark we’re getting is out of 110 marks with planning and work leading up to the actual poster being worth far more marks than the actual poster submitted. I’m not sure that I like this approach and would prefer the simpler task that allows a bit more freedom, but its not too bad. Has anyone else found this with their own psych EPI?

Chemistry
Along with Psych, Chemistry is my other best subject this year. My average SAC mark is somewhere near 98% along with psych, but most importantly I just enjoy the content (not as much as bio though ;( ). We have managed to finish chem content a few weeks back as well and just did the last SAC on Wednesday (yesterday) and I think I did the best I could possibly do (I am really hoping for 100%). Since finishing the content, I had gotten stuck into the practice exams and have completed the 2016,2015 and 2014 Chem exams so far. I haven’t done any this week but I blame that on the few SACs we’ve had. For the exams that I have done though, I have gone pretty well in them, but have identified plenty of small areas I need to revise and strengthen. Hopefully I can get stuck back into some practice exams either over the weekend or next week.

Physics
Physics is going alright at the moment. My SAC marks aren’t as good as the psych and chem but I think there floating around low to mid 90’s and I am still towards the top end of the class. I think the core reason behind my lower marks is my lack of engagement by the content. No offense physics, but you’re just not as interesting as chemistry.
At the moment, we are just getting through the last bit of content and will be looking to only just finish unit 4 by the time our practice exams come along. I don’t think I an awfully devoted fan to leaving myself no time to revise, so I think I may try to finish the content early – perhaps this weekend.

Maths
Methods is going along much the same as physics, but my SAC marks are a bit lower still. We’ve had only 2 SACs this entire year and I’ve got 90% on both of them and that has placed me in the top few in the class. We’ve almost gotten through the last of probability content and I’ve started making my bound reference. I figure if I can get it done soonish, I can use it with all my practice exams and become quite good at navigating it in the case I need to look anything up quickly.

English
English is picking up for me. I still don’t love it for the simple reason that writing timed essays is not a of any love for me, but I do find enjoyment in the texts themselves. We are nearing the end of our comparative study between I am Malala and Made in Dagenham with the SAC next week on Thursday. I think my essay writing skills have picked up recently and I am getting better at writing to time. My English teacher surprised me the other day when she told me in a one-to-one conference that she thinks I am in the territory of a 41-42 study score in English (this was beyond my hopeful scores so hopefully she’s not pulling some epic pranks).

General Exam thoughts, cause hey… they ain’t too far away
I’m not to stressed about exams atm – I think doing bio last year really has helped in that regard. I am just honestly looking forward to getting them done so that I can move on to the next stages of my life. Maybe Stress with come soon, but hopefully I can keep it undercontroll and allow myself to perform well in exams.
Much like I have already done for chemistry, I would really like to start doing practice exams soon for all my other subjects. For the moment, I would like to start my doing one exam per subject every week, but as classes essentially turn into free revision classes I might try to step it up to 2 per week. Hopefully this will serve me well in preparation for exams.
Ultimately I am hoping to get as high an ATAR and Possible. I don’t really need a amazing ATAR for doing and undergraduate science degree, least not higher 90’s, but I would really like to get up in the high 90’s to aid myself to tutor next year if I wanted to (something which is becoming increasingly appealing to me).

Personal Life
My life outside of school has been going on much the same as always. I still run 5 times a week and continue to compete here and there. I am continuing to avoid reading books despite my continual intentions to do otherwise and I find myself hanging out with Poet every weekend (which is very nice). I have, unfortunately been neglecting coding through and really ought to make some more progress in that especially since I was finding it so fun while I was doing it.

Well That should be all folks. Sorry it was a bit long – a lot has happened in the last month and a half week since I posted. I must now run off to make sure no one is accusing me of being a whendog do you get it! Like werewolf but like different! Hahhahsdnbfsjhdbf!

Time Dilation… You see, I have been doing a lot more running around a track recently and what with all the acceleration and how fast I run I have been experiencing time much slower than y’all. Its really only been one week for me so if you think about it, I’m actually quite punctual with this journal post… Its honestly just simple general relativity.

How about you keep it simple: Surely the time dilation has something to do with an apeture? :P
And I'm not sure that general relativity is ever simple, though special relativity might be.

The best kind. Nothing like the night before to really focus the mind, right?

Dear diary
Oopsie doopsie
I think I slipped and gone dun did it again – forget to write a journal entry for about a million years that is. For this immense tragedy I apologise and just hope the lack of journal entering didn’t cause you too much trauma. But you can now wipe those tears from your eyes because I am back and I have brought you the gift of an upsaltana of my humdrum life.
DISCLAIMER: while my life recently has involved substantial humming, it has involved very little, if any, drumming.
In general, my life has become increasingly focused around studying for my exams. All my classes have finished all content and SACs and I am in full exam preparation mode at the moment. I have decided to cut my running back a bit (to about 4 sessions per week) and its much less focused around competition and mainly for relaxation from school. This is due mostly to the fact that I have finished my winter season of running and haven’t really had a break from a consistent training schedule for half a year, meaning running was getting a bit boring for me. Hopefully with a few weeks of lighter running though, I will re-find some eagerness to run and get back into it. Unfortunately due to the presence of my exams and a number of other events of which would be requiring me to take time off work, my managers and I came to the decision that it would probably be best for me to give up my classes so that they can have a consistent teacher throughout the term. This means I have resigned from my work which is sad because I did enjoy teaching (most) of my classes and the kids were (mostly) fun to be around. At the same time though, it is nice having a little bit of extra time to study/relax/procrastinate.
In terms of my study, I am feeling pretty good at the moment. I think I have set up good process of doing practice exams, marking them harshly and really focusing on filling in any weak spots that have caused me to lose marks. I do think I underestimated quite how low my exams marks would start of being – where even in my most confident subjects I was getting in the 70’s (obviously this is not a bad mark, but it is however far below what I want to be getting). However, since then by patching up my weaknesses, I have seen my practice exam marks creeping up quite nicely. At this rate, given a couple more weeks I might even be able to get them up over 100% assuming they continue to rise as they have been (why not right?).
However, one problem I am faced with is motivation to study my weaker subjects. While for psychology, chem and English (which I am feeling pretty good about) I have done plenty of exams for and as such have gotten my exam marks up to an A+ in psych and chem, and about a higher A in English. For physics and maths however, I have only done a couple of exams and am sitting on lower ends of an A. Ideally I would like all my exam marks to be sitting up in the A+’s which means putting more effort into physics and maths, but I find putting these words into action is far harder than it would seem. Mostly for the reason that I am good at them, chemistry and psych exams are fun to do, whereas mostly for the reason that I am weak in them, maths and physics exams are quite boring. I guess I just gotta knuckle down though and stop complaining.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that – aside from actually improving my content knowledge – through doing practice exams I have become noticeable better at working for 2 and a half + hours in a single block. As I have always broken up my study throughout the year, I knew doing a longer exam would be a bit hard on the noggin, but I think I surprised myself with how quickly I adapted to focusing over that period of time by forcing myself to do timed practice exams properly instead of just untimed exam questions.
In terms of after exam plans, I haven’t really gotten much – least not anything wild and exciting. Schoolies or partying really doesn’t excite me (in fact it scares me) and I haven’t really got much else put in place to do. I was thinking that it would be nice to go on a little camping and relax in some nature, so I think I might try to organise that. My aunt does have a bit of land nearish to falls creek, so I would probably end up hanging there and going up and around the mountains there for a few days. Aside from that, I do plan on getting me a casual job for late November to December just to work up some monies.
Moving into next year, I still have my eyes set on an undergraduate science degree – however while I previously was decided on Melbourne Bachelor of Science, I have discovered Monash’s Bachelor of Science Advanced Research degree. Research really interests me, so the research focus of the Monash degree does take my fancy, however my only hesitance at the moment is the travel times as Melbourne is much closer for me. Suffice to say that I am conflicted, and both are up high on my preference list for VTAC. If anyone has any wisdom on the matter, I would be very interested in hearing your opinion on the matter. I think at the moment I will just wait to see if I get any scholarship offers from either Uni, because a good scholar ship offer may tip the balance to one side.

Anyways, that’s all from me. Enjoy your stuff and things!

I recently became the president of the Monash Advanced Science Scholar and science Advanced Society (mass^3) which is specifically for research and global challenges students so if you do end up going for research let me know what events you'd like :)

If you have any questions about the research degree also let me know because I probably have answers.

I think the main thing that I want to know is which course actually sets you up the best for research. While the monash one is labeled as a research focused degree, I don't know if it actually helps with research skills and opportunities moreso than a bachelor of science at melbourne.
Basically, research seems really cool to me, so whatever gives me the most research opportunity is probably the one I'm interested in.

The main way that I think research steps you up for, well,  research is the research first program.  What that means is that you get a scholarship to conduct research over the holidays between first and second year.  Regardless of if you're doing the research degree at Monash you get emails for holiday research scholarships from 2nd year onwards but having the "research" degree & previous experience helps academics be more interested in having you.

mass^3 runs an academic mixer each year to help students & academics connect but I'd be surprised if the normal science societies at Monash and UniMelb don't also run events like that.  (You would also fit in with the science society, chemistry society etc. you wouldn't be restricted to mass^3)

Yes, you are seeing this correctly – you’re not going crazy -  I am making a journal post within a month of my last one (by which I mean before a full month as elapsed (which I have approximated to 30.44 days) as opposed to within the same month as my last post). My life has been pretty extraordinarily ordinary over the last (just less than a) month; I have been pretty much tailoring my life around exams.
I have been trying to keep up the running. Like I said last post, I have tuned it back a little, but am still going out a few times a week to run, destress (and since its almost always damp and rainy) devote my full attention to dodging all the snails on the path. I am proud to say I haven’t had to hold a snail funeral as of yet.
Here’s a photo of one of me running with the snails
(https://imgur.com/GdalIOE.jpeg)
Now, I am going to let you in on a little secret – that ‘photo’ wasn’t actually a photo, it was instead a drawing I did. I understand that you probably don’t believe me because of how life-like it looks, but I assure you I am telling the truth. As you can see – I am quite skilled, so feel free to reach out for any drawing advice.
Aside from hanging with my snail buddies, I have also found myself getting back into some videogames to relax now and then. Particularly over the last week or so I have been getting into factorio (for those who know of it). And of course, most importantly (yes more important than snails) I have been continuing to hang out with Poet regularly throughout my exam period.
Now into exam stuff.
Since my last post, my exam revision has gone along rather successfully: I have done practice exams, made boo boos them, then going through and patched up the boo boos, then repeated the process. Occasionally I’d do a bad practice exam here and there which would demotivate me to an extent, but as a whole I have been maintaining pretty decent motivation, and most importantly, keeping my stress levels down (moderately). I do have the ever-present concern of what if I don’t meet my expectations, but I wouldn’t say that its causing me to stress in any harmful way and I think that comes mainly down to my successful performance (at least by my standards) throughout the year which is fuelling my confidence in my ability to achieve what I want to achieve.
So far, my exams themselves have gone well. Exams aren’t as dramatic as I think I was making them out to be in my head.  Even after doing bio last year, I was expecting to be walking out the exam either over-the-moon with my performance or devastated after ‘flunking it’ – a make it or break it scenario of sorts - however, every exam so far as been pretty much what I have been doing in practice (funnily enough).
My first exam English went much like my last practice exam; over the 3 hour exam I spend 70 on each of section C and A, and then rushed out a section B in 40 mins. In my last practice, my teacher marked my a 9,8, and a 7 which does get me an A+ (at least by last year’s grade distribution) which I would be very satisfied with for the exam. I do have some regrets though – I don’t think the second half of my section B was all that good, but I am hoping that I am making it out worse in my head.
The day after I had psychology which (I hope) went about as good as my last practice as well, although its hard to tell. I feel that the content was fairly easy on the exam, but some questions were just a little ambiguous/hard to understand what content they wanted you to talk about. I am confident with what I wrote, so I am keenly waiting to see how it turns out.
Over the last couple days, I also had my two methods exams. I think I managed to scrap together a solid performance, but I am fairly sure that methods is going to be my 6th subject in terms of study score. I just seem to make a lot of silly mistakes and go through the exams too slowly.
Up next I have Chem (on Tuesday) and Physics as my last exam (on Wednesday). I am a little concerned about chem as I have such high hopes for the subject, but my recent exam marks haven’t been up to the standard I am hoping for. I don’t have a lot of time left until the chem exam, so I have to really focus on fixing up my weaknesses and getting my confidence levels up a bit. I haven’t got as high goals for physics, I think I will do better in it then maths, but I don’t think by much. However, that’s not to say I won’t put in some more hard work towards it before the exam.
I think I am slowly coming to realise the school is ending (at least high school) After coming on from the English exam to my desk covered in English papers, I didn’t know what to do with them. I am the kind of person who usually saves old work in the off chance I will want to look back on it in later years, but for English in particular I realised that I will probably  never look back on any of it. I ended up just putting it in a corner (I’m glaring at it right now in fact) because I just don’t want to throw it out (maybe I am trying to deny that high schools ending haha)
In regards to my uni dilemma, I haven’t devoted much thought to the situation. I think I am sticking with my resolve to wait for scholarships and make a decision from there. The Monash course does have an increasing appeal to me, but I am not sure if I want to make the longer trip.
I will hopefully make another post here sometime next week after my last exam (which actually means I will post something here in approximately the year 2082) so stay tuned!

Good luck for chem!!! I'm in the same boat haha, doing practice exam after practice exam but not really seeing the marks I'd like. Yeah there's not a lot of time left but I'm sure if you really focus in the next couple of days you can still make improvements. It's the final sprint!
Lol this was me last year after my lit exam! I burnt everything after a week though mwahahah
Damn, teach me your talented ways!

I've absolutely loved reading your journal. Good luck for the next couple of days!
\
Thanks for the encouragement and good luck for chem yourself!
I was thinking of burning my work - but haven't mustered the courage to do so yet haha.
And I will glady teach you for the low low price of $2500 per lesson over a 32 lesson package. Honestly a bargain if I am honestly being honest.

So… Exams are done

That’s pretty cool I guess?

To pick up from last post…
Yesterday I had chemistry. Sadly, this didn’t quite go as I had wished. From a mixture of a genuine passion for chemistry and really good SAC marks throughout the year, I was really hyping myself up to do amazingly in chem. I did twice the number of practice exams as I did for any of my other subjects and went through them just as thoroughly to repair mistakes – so I don’t think there was any real holes in my content knowledge going into the exam on Tuesday. What ended tripping me up I think was just a stress during the exam purely from the pressure I put on myself to do well which just clouded my thought and slowed me down. I didn’t do badly by any means, but it just wasn’t the performance I was hoping for. I think I got through 80% of the exam or so confidently (probably lost marks for calculation errors like I always seem to do haha) maybe rushed 10-15% of the marks when I realised I was running out of time and probably left blank the remainder of the marks. I am not too annoyed or sad about it – much worse could have happened indeed so I am grateful that this was the worst thing to come out of my whole exam period.
Today, fortunately I was able to smash the physics exam (I hope). I was thinking physics would be my worst subject, but I either miscalculated my abilities or the exam was easier than the ones I have done in practice. I finished everything on time (that’s a first) and I didn’t guess a thing. In hindsight I think I may have lost 1 or 2 marks on multiple choice – but I would be over the moon if those were the only marks I lost. Regardless, I am still very happy with how I went.

At the moment I think I am switching between feeling overjoyed at the realisation that school be done and feeling a bit sad and empty at the realisation that school be done. As exciting as moving forward in life is – off to uni and what not – I can’t help, at least to some degree, wishing school wasn’t over. I liked school (maybe not exams so much) but the classrooms of the same students and teachers I’ve known for years is something I don’t think I will experience again in quite the same way and something I think I will miss. Perhaps not though – perhaps once I move into uni I’ll forget about it for the most part. Perhaps I will even move on in a matter of weeks or days. I am sure there are plenty of exciting things instore that will keep at bay too much Reminiscence over the past.

These exams haven’t fostered any revaluations in me – I am still set on Uni and still set on a Bachelor of Science. I think I will enjoy uni. I like the idea of the more independent learning environments – but I am not sure how I well I will actually take to it. Some of my teachers have told me that I will be great at uni, so I can only hope their judgement is accurate.
Aside from uni – I do have plenty of things to look forward to in the ensuing months. I am on the prowl for an automobile; I am fairly set on moving out early next year; and I have to get another job so that I can make the first two plans viable. I will probably just try to find a summer casual job for the next couple months as I plan (hopefully) to get into tutoring next year. However, all that can wait a couple days as I plan to let myself relax till the end of the week. I will try to catch up on some neglected videogames and reading, and most importantly will probably lurk around atar notes for a lot of the day.

Hope you’ve enjoyed reading my journal throughout the year – and if you haven’t then I will be more than happy to refund you the full subscription fees. Thanks to all those who have offered support advice and, most crucially, banter.
I might make a post once results come out on the terrifying 12th of December, or not. I don’t know if its necessary everyone know my scores, but perhaps it would be good to reflect on the year in the context of my end of year results. I also have my uni preferences to work out though

I have just realised that this post has been particularly void of any of my failed attempts at humor, so I shall attempt to burden you with some here. However, since this post has already dragged on for too long, I will cut out the unimportant and irrelevant details and get strait into the punchline:
Spoiler
I said "thats a honey badger, not a stawberry doughnut"
what a cracker. And by the way, feel free to steal this joke for yourself, just make sure you cite my properly (APA 6th edition should be fine)

I don't know why that joke made me laugh so violently but it did; maybe it's just been a long day for me but that's up there with the two knights.

Regardless of how well or how badly you perceived your performance to be on your exams, particularly chemistry, (gosh that's a sentence) you're done and I am so proud of you.

I'm excited to see a uni journal with more cracker jokes and genuine reflections.

PS, I love you. 💙
