What's just *one* thing you could give back to ATARNotes?

Hi there, friends, and congratulations on finishing VCE/HSC :D

ATARNotes is built on one simple principle: when you take, you give back.  It's just... sheer unadulterated helpfulness and generosity.  Helping out for no gain but warm fuzzies (and respect ;)).  That's the AN spirit that makes this community special!

So, if ATARNotes has helped or supported you in any way this year... could you use an hour of your holidays to give us back just ONE thing for a VCE or HSC subject you did?  You don't have to have scored a 50 or anything; we'd love anything useful, no matter how well you did.  You'll be keeping communal free education thriving and helping hundreds of students for many years to come! :D

Some ideas:

•   Write a subject overview, guide, tips or resources (e.g. Legal Studies - Guide & Review, How To: Probability Guide or Geography Resources)
•   Create a prac SAC, exam or revision questions (e.g. VCAA approved definitions or difficult Qs from VCAA exams or theory revision questions)
•   Dedicate yourself to answering Qs from one thread over a certain time period
•   Start up a great discussion (e.g. this thread)
•   Start some cool creative initiative (e.g. the LA Club, though it could be much smaller scale than this!)
•   Give feedback on how AN could be improved

Some VCE subjects have nothing on the forums, so if you did one of these we'd extra specially love a contribution:
•   Art
•   Australian Politics
•   Classical Studies
•   Dance
•   Drama
•   Economics
•   Environmental Science
•   Food and Technology
•   Industry and Enterprise
•   All IT Subjects (inc. Algorithmics)
•   Music (Styles and Composition, Performance)
•   Outdoor and Environmental Studies
•   Physical Education
•   Product Design and Technology
•   Religion and Society
•   Sociology
•   Studio Arts
•   Systems Engineering
•   Theatre Studies
and most VET or LOTEs too. :)

Reply with your personal commitment or a link to a thread you've created, and I'll upvote and give you a huge round of applause!

I would like to do a write up about Systems Engineering. I think that this is a brilliant idea to get some love for the less popular subjects, I know I certainly would have liked a bit of information from past students before entering 3/4 systems.

Great point! I did 3/4 Systems Engineering back in high school and I loved it. I had a lot of fun getting hands on experience actually building stuff, even though it didn't work, and I learned a lot about using using tools and fixing things.

It's actually surprisingly useful in adult life as well, as very often you have to install and fix things around the house :P If you're complaining high school doesn't teach you useful life skills, then do Systems Engineering. Once my dog chewed the plug-in head off my vacuum cleaner, to many people it will be "Crap my vacuum's screwed, time to get a new one", but all I had to do was to head to the electrician's store, get a replacement plug in head, use a wire cutter and replaced it efortlessly 8)

It's kinda sad to see Systems Engineering not getting the love it deserves; and from what I know, many top tier schools don't offer that subject as well. If you can contribute and make the Systems Engineering section in this forum come alive that will be awesome!

I've just added IT/Computing to the list. We are in need of a resource boost for the following listed subjects (as we haven't had a proper resource update in a long time). If you have completed any of these subjects and would like to assist ATAR Notes, please consider adding something! Some examples of what we are after can be found up the top!

Computing: Informatics
Computing: Software Development
Information Technology Units 1+2
Algorithmics

You can contact me directly or add your resource/s to the respective sections. Thanks :)

I completed Sociology this year in Year 12!
So, I would love to help future and current students that need help or need some clarification on parts of the topic.

Feel free to help develop the SACE section by creating guides or resources, in addition to this post you've just created :) We are currently only developed in VCE and HSC systems (VIC & NSW), hence the lack of resources for the SA system. Thanks :)

Gonna write up some spicy resources for German sometime soon because it's a very popular language and it's the only subject I've actually continued at uni. Keep your eyes peeled boys n girls

Well I received a pretty decent score in Classics this year. I wouldn't mind contributing at all :)

EDIT: Just had a look at that side of the forum. I might have a look at the texts being studied and provide some critical notes on them. I've also got a bunch of comparative essays, lying around my desk (hopefully I haven't thrown them all away). I might make a guide on writing a classics essay, as they make up a large portion of the end-of-year exam (50% of the marks). But at this stage, it's all talk for now, because Classics was that one subject I'd wing and get a good mark in. Might need help in constructing solid advice.

I think you might surprise yourself with just how helpful you can be, even if you aren't the most confident yourself!! Good on you ;D

I'd be happy to help out if you'd like; Classics is a bit undernourished. So much to write about though, it's hard to know where to start. :)

That would be awesome. I think it might be possible if we start by splitting it into sections, like Rome and Greece and then give context around the prescribed books/artwork VCAA has chosen for 2017. And then go into the nitty gritty parts of answering individual studies and the comparative. You can look at the texts studied next year in the link below:

http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/vce/classical/VCE_Classic_Works_List17.pdf

Since, I won't have many things to do for across the year (next year), I won't mind taking a look at the more obscure texts and studying it. Hopefully by the end of it, we'll have ourselves some fresh and concise notes on just about everything covered. We can chat more about this over PM if you want! Classics never feels like a chore to study and read for. I'm so excited about this! I've never undertaken such a big project before ;D I'm just hoping it all falls through!
