Hey!
So, as you may or may not know, the ATAR Notes leadership team has had some changes recently. We've taken in some new State Moderators: miniturtle, Quantum44 and clarke54321 in Victoria, and fantasticbeasts3, dancing phalanges, beatroot, potatohater and blasonduo in New South Wales. It's a super exciting time for us: fresh faces, more contributors, and an entire academic year ahead of us. We truly have the potential to make a
huge impact on the VCE/HSC/uni/other journeys of one another - and that's what we're going to do!
But before then, I have three things to say. Just three things.
#1: AARONAs you may have seen, long-time member
Aaron recently retired from his position as a National Moderator. Aaron was part of the moderator team for several years, and has been a member of ATAR Notes since 2012. That's literally more than half a decade of contributions. In many ways, he led the moderator team to higher standards in consistency and dedication. Aaron and I were actually NatModded on the same day, and it's been incredible to see his mammoth body of work progress from that day. A large portion of what Aaron contributed to ATAR Notes is invisible to most users: locking, deleting, editing, merging, splitting, warning, banning and so on. None of these things are much fun, but they need to be done to ensure the community continues to run smoothly, and nobody did more of that than Aaron throughout his tenure. We are pleased that Aaron accepted an Honorary Moderator position in recognition of his contributions; he became Honorary Moderator #19 in our more-than-ten-year history. I just wanted to formally and publicly thank Aaron again for his work and time invested.
Thank you Aaron: Honorary Moderator #19
#2: KELTINGMEITHYou will likely be less aware that forum legend
keltingmeith has also decided to move on from his role as a National Moderator. Meithy - perhaps best known as EulerFan101 - has been a NatMod for so long that I don't even know he first rose to the role. Like Aaron, he has contributed enormously to both this community of ours, and ATAR Notes more broadly (in a number of capacities). As it sits today, keltingmeith has made the 12th most posts in ATAR Notes history, including more than 2,000 combined posts in the VCE Methods and Spesh forums. Meithy has brought balance, hard work and genuine kindness to the moderator team, and those qualities will be missed in the future. But there's another side of Meithy: he's always a strong candidate for the Scariest Mod/Admin Award at the end of the year.
I'm also stoked to note that keltingmeith has accepted an Honorary Moderator position - something deserved more by few if any. Meithy has been a constant through most of my time on ATAR Notes, and has helped literally thousands of students as both a poster and moderator. We look forward to more contributions from both Aaron and Meithy in their new roles.
Thank you keltingmeith: Honorary Moderator #20
#3: K888Of course, Aaron and keltingmeith stepping down from their positions opens an opportunity for somebody to be promoted to National Moderator. We're incredibly lucky at the moment in that we have a strong team of State Moderators, many of whom would fill this position extraordinarily well - and equally, a
very strong group of core posters,
very many of whom would do an outstanding job as State Moderators. But I'm happy to announce that
K888 has been selected as the newest National Moderator. K888 has dutifully fulfilled her roles in a State Moderator capacity, working hard both visibly and otherwise to make ATAR Notes an even stronger community. She has been one of our most prolific, helpful and genuinely warm posters over the last several years, and is absolutely suited to National Moderatorship. We have no doubt she'll do a fantastic job. Promotion to a NatMod position requires a certain commitment to and passion for ATAR Notes, and I think we can all agree that such qualities are demonstrable in K888.
Congratulations to our newest National Moderator: K888!
SO - please join me in thanking and congratulation Aaron, meltingkeith and K888 on their new positions. You are all absolute legends of ATAR Notes!
