What do you guys think about doing both subjects in the same year? Does doing spesh help methods significantly?

Yes. When I did methods, it was a bore - I legit did not approach one topic (with the exception of probability, but that may change now given the new study design) in methods unless I had covered it in specialist the week prior. The bonus was, in studying for specialist, I basically nutted out study for methods - the only problem was you still need to do methods practice exams/SACs, as the type of questions asked in methods differs to specialist. The workload was basically somewhere between doing 4 and 5 subjects - nowhere near as stressful as doing 5, but not quite on the level of doing one less subject.

Okay thanks!

I know its been ages, but do you have any suggestions for topics to become good at over the summer holidays? This is for both maths (asking anyone who reads).

any of your weaknesses which is probably different for everyone.
Broadly speaking I think transfomations are the most important since it can be found in basically every topic and also historically the worst taught topic in methods.
For spec revise basic geometry e.g. years 7-10 and trig identities.

Completely agree with Sine - anything taught in specialist is taught fresh, so it's more important you know the basics than anything taught recently. Particularly geometry, but also algebra.

For methods, though, not much is different from 1/2 - and anything that is is an extension on 1/2, so if you know that material back to front, you're more than set for 3/4 (where a bunch of it is re-taught, anyway)

Thanks!

And yet another question... how difficult is it to get above 40 in methods and specialist in the same year, and what should be my approach to study each night and when approaching the exam?
