Do you think artistic expression is a good way to let off steam?

Heck yeah - I'm in for this!
Nah, I'm good.
I'd love to, but I have no time. :,(

hello everyone! new to this thread  ;D ;D

I really enjoy brush lettering and watercolouring, similar to Owlbird83's awesome post before!!

This is my one for the topic moon:

^^ a bit off skew oops !  ::)

one of my other attempts  ;D
I have been stalking this thread  ::) and this is one of my past late night doodles that I thought was relevant for emotions. I did it during exams, not that long ago. My anxiety got a bit out of control and I didn't really feel like I could handle anything. But this quote really spoke to me, we shouldn't let our minds have so much control over us. So I definitely think this falls under 'emotions'... although I may be a little late  :)

Hello! We have 3 more days left of this topic (I feel it's been a pretty fantastic one so far) so if you wanted to pop in and give us another lovely work to admire, feel free!
Remember this is an activity meant for stress reduction though, so skill range or creativity levels don't matter as long as you're happy just doing you.

Here's my entry - it's a bit of a Yin-yang cross Mozilla Firefox piece, except it's meant to be a wolf haha. I was unpacking boxes at work and left with pieces of thin cardboard, and decided to recycle, so this is done using a piece of said cardboard, some trusty scissors and a sharpie.

(I just sketched it during a break at work so it's not the most realistic wolf but you get the drift :)))

The works so far have been absolutely amazing! Keep at it y'all! 💙 💙 💙

Here is my attempt at moon-inspired artistry. I tried using charcoal for this one (emphasis on the tried). It may have turned out looking like a kindergartener's crayon drawings, but here it is nonetheless

Hi all! Today is the day for us to switch over topics! Thanks for all of the fantastic entries for the "moon" theme. No, really, they're all good. I love seeing even just attempts. If you don't like what you did and still have the courage to post it here, you should know that it is highly appreciated, and that all art requires perseverance which can lend to the improvement and refinement of your skills. Keep practicing, and know that you're awesome for trying!

I thought I'd flip this one on its head today. So, instead of the moon, the rest of the month will be centered around the sun!

Theme from 15-31st of July: S U N

Enjoy creating! I look forward to seeing all manner of entries. 💙❤️☀❤️💙

The bird tweeted from the cage.
As she flapped and flew.
Leaping and searching.
A frantic flurry of flapping wings.
She screamed for an escape.
Searched inside herself,
For something.
But instead found a pit,
A chasm of nothingness.
The silence inside herself was unbearable.
The darkness grew with every minute in that cage.

And just when that bird thought,
That the emptiness would consume her,
She took a deep breath.
She shut her eyes and existed in the chasm.
Fluttered her wings.
Reached deep within the abyss,
And found the sun.

Late entry hehe, I came across this really cool artwork of the solar system while scrolling through facebook and thought I'd do something similar:

obviously not a legit solar system but close enough :P

Howdy Folks!
I will resume the role of Poet temporarily (have bought a wing, costume and everything for the gig).
The art for this fortnight has been amazing (as allways) - some really good poetry from laura, an amazing painting by milanander, and a very cool painting-poetry hybrid from periperi101. Good work guys!

For my submission (speaking now as a weird morphing of Erutepa and Poet) I have a collation of pictures and a piece of blackboard art attempting to simulate the style of bob ross. I must say I can honestly not tell the difference between bob ross' works and this on here though.

Here comes the sun

And next week's theme will be...
FISHIES
This will end on the 15th of August.
Until then, happy arting!

Little fish swim in shallow little ponds.
They lounge in the light, close to the surface.

Little fish let the sun warm their backs,
Grazing on the best weed the pond offers.

Little fish lie still as water washes over their bellies,
Letting the river take them where it wishes.

Little fish never EVER swim alone.
They certainly do not go exploring.

Little fish do not go chasing big rivers,
They don’t have adventures or go getting lost.

Little fish don’t go hurtling down rapids,
Getting sucked into the deep darkness.

But sometimes little fish wish they would.

Something different this time! ;D

My Chinese friend introduced me to the art of 'jianzhi' (Chinese paper cutting) a while back and it's so cool!

This is lovely, thank you for sharing it! You're so talented in provoking emotion through language.

This is beautiful! I've wanted to try jianzhi for a while but I'm too nervous of making a mistake haha - mad respect.

Hi! Sorry for the hiatus, anxiety can make posting pretty difficult sometimes.

We've still got a few days of this topic left to go, and I have 2 entries! Resuming the role of Erutepa temporarily, here's his adorable entry of a siamese fighting fish (beta fish):
Spoiler
Speaking outside of Erutepa, this was his first time using watercolour pencils; and, with not much experience drawing, I think we can all agree that this freehand drawing was a great effort.

And here's mine:
Spoiler
It was also my first time using watercolour pencils (a lot more drawing experience though) and working together with Erutepa was motivating and a lot of fun. I'm a little annoyed because I won't have time to add white highlights on the fish before the topic is over, so he lacks the depth I wanted. But this has still been a good experience.

4 days till the topic is over. There's still time for more entries! Love you all. 💙💙💙💙

Thank you! Jianzhi does seem a bit daunting at first, I reckon it's good to start with something symmetrical first so it's easier to cut.

Btw, love that beta fish. you are such a talented artist! :)
