Yup. That's why there's a massive fuss about them.

Cool thanks

I know this doesn't relate to my original question, but since you seem like you know your stuff, can you elaborate on the structure of uni (or direct me to a thread that does
(and maybe the differences between uom and monash)

Is it too much? I originally wanted to do an Asian 5 and do Methods 1/2 this year but my school didn't let me, so I asked for Physics but they didn't let me either. I eventually settled for Biology since I had no other math/science option apart from Psychology. I kinda hated Biology and I didn't get the point of studying it for the first few weeks but I soon started to like it. Bio changed my perspective from only liking maths, but science as well. A few weeks back, I found out Extended Investigation was a thing and was only held in certain schools. I tried out for JMSS and I'm just waiting for a response. I'm trying to do physics 3/4 next year so I don't have too much workload next year if I get accepted into UMEP/MUEP. I read through the study design of Physics and I'm trying to get into Unit 2 of Physics next semester. For the english subject, I was thinking of English Language but since I've only been in Australia for <2 years I could just do EAL. And specialist just to spice things up a little bit. IMO, it's not a solid line-up for a 99.95, I just really want the knowledge in general. Half of those probably won't happen and I'll just end up with

2018: Biology | LOTE
2019: EAL | Methods | Chemistry | Physics

Asian 5 - Spesh + LOTE

TL;DR I agree, it does make no sense

I understand now! Good luck with VCE. I thought you wanted to do every single subject you listed in the way lol

The answer is completely different and completely depends on where you go. However, Monash and UoM are two of the more similar of the lot. If you want to know about academic differences (i.e., difference in course selection, units you can take), it's best to find out by going to the open days. As for a difference in social stuff, from a lot of my friends I've found that Monash overall seems more welcoming to them. They've found it easier to talk to people here, and found most people at UoM rude and not wanting to interact. However, plenty of people here would probably combat this, so don't take it to heart.

We've actually got some threads on the matter in the university boards. I highly recommend giving them a read!

UPDATE: I just made a post about universities for high school students - definitely give it a read for more information!
