Hi...
First, of all, what an awesome article!
Just wondering if you had any specific advice on making your thesis and general writing style clearer to comprehend?
I tend to over complicate things in my writing (definitely my biggest weakness), so other than including the wording of the question, are there any other ways to make things easier for the markers to know what I am talking about? Thanks.
Hiya! Thanks much
As for your question, I'm not actually sure about how to make writing more concise. As a general rule of thumb, my teacher said if your sentence is more than 40 words, it's probably too long. It might also help to include plenty of transition words, both between sentences and within a sentence (e.g. in order to ____ the author does ____ which has _____ impact). These can signal the logical flow of the argument and help the marker keep up. This is partly related to the cause and effect structure I use-- within a paragraph, I'll usually go chronologically in the text, pick out a collection of quotes, explain the technique and what the author's trying to achieve, and then rinse, repeat.
In all honesty I write how I talk, except with fancier vocab and longer sentences haha, so I don't have any more tips! If I think of more I'll make sure to add on. Hope this helped!
