I pretty much go for the "you've been a dickhead all semester, now you should cover a large quantity of content in a short amount of time" approach.^ this
All i'm doing is to regulate my sleeping schedule and solve the past exam questions...I remember cramming for the VCE English exam..I literally had no shower for two weeks..and didnt leave my study area expect for food and toilet..It worked :P
Okay ... I didn't need to know about the shower ... But okay...ok..edited :P
Seriously, I am using this week to revise and revise and I need to finish writing my summary notes. I've found a couple of beautiful books with uni style exam questions, which you guys can find for biology, chemistry, physics and even medicine haha, and the best part is they are old editions . => longer time to keep the books.
Sigh but to be completely blunt, I am shitting myself. ;(
Jesus Christ, you guys make me feel so guilty... Today I read half a journal article, ate a pizza, and watched half of The Silverlining Playbook. And made this thread. *sigh*. Better go read stuff/study. (Maybe)
Hmmm...this is my plan for tonight and tomorrow.
Tonight:
IC - summarise Ethnography of Communication
Mate if its anything like the exam I had for IC, you will find that this is one of the easiest exams you will ever have to do in your life. Assuming they have still made it multiple choice?
It's still 30 MC. How did you revise for the IC exam? I haven't really been attending the lectures and have just been listening to them at home the whole semester, and I hope that I can compensate for the marks I lost in Assignment 1.
I'm seriously not feeling much stress at all though...yet.

Only half...HOW COULD YOU STOP HALFWAY THROUGH?! You'll never know about the dance comp now!I was watching with my girlfriend and she wanted to take a nap :@
Is it best to stop studying the night before an exam? If so, what time do you reckon you should finish? IIRC I've heard 6 or 7 pm before, although it sounds rather arbitrary. You'd be wanting to not turn up to the exam as a zombie, so you'd probably want enough time for a proper dinner, 8 hours sleep, time to eat breakfast properly in the morning etc. Personally I'd end up doing light reading in the evening and probably end up dreaming about the French Revolution (or epsilon's and delta's, whatever relevant to the particular exam) anyway.
Thought I'd let you all know that it's 4:30am and I've been watching Friends non-stop since 1 o'clock. I have a sickness. Send help.
Yeah, I've heard that a lot too, through the years. I think that's sound advice for someone who knows their stuff, just to relax and not stress yourself. But to be honest, if I didn't know shit before an exam, I'd be cramming like a bitch, because there is a lot you can learn in a good 24 hours.
The amount of stuff you can cram in a short period of time is actually amazing...my sister started studying/cramming for a 2nd year pharmacy subject two days before her exam, and ended up getting a unit award for it.Jaffy's, you guys are so motivated (it's a good thing! :D) I have no idea where my motivation has gone....
And ironically, the subject that she studied the most for was her lowest scoring one LOL
Right now I'm studying from 10-5.30 (with breaks every hour or two) and then I have a massive de-stress by playing Zelda, and then back to work at 8.30 ahaha
I am starting to feel the stress now, I felt like my hair was falling out all of yesterday night
Man, I wish I was dedicated like this guy ^. You make me feel bad, Shenz0r. At the start of today (like 12am) I started writing an essay that will end up to be about 2,000 words. I've got 800 right now, and I'm about to go write the rest. After that I'll start revising for Psych again (lol)
Jaffy here, really proud of myself today - summarised and did readings for 11/24ish biology lectures.
Working 16 hours of study a day.
Got really sick last night from it all around 4 30am but feeling a little bit better now, 5pm = back to work.
I'm only working harder because I want H1 for at least 3 of my subjects...I would be ecstatic with four H1s, but meh-meh disappointed if I got 2 H1s and 2 H2As. I think the last outcome may be likely, but I doubt myself quite a lot.

So I guess I worked my ass off as I didn't exactly know how hard/easy it would be to get 4 HD's.
loljks I don't deserve one hahahahahahaha
lol yes you doEven if he doesn't as a med student he probably has an excuse (I have no idea how difficult medicine is or isn't).

coffee must be your best friend :lI'm cutting out coffee now! Been a few days now. Gone with tea instead!
Spent some time planning out what I was going to do today. And then I looked at my clock and it was 6:30 pm.Every flipping day! Far out.

whippedBro that girl wouldn't need a whip to beat the fuck out of me. I'm not going to lie to you people. I do what she says. That's that.
also fuck all of you guys whinging about not being preparedIf that happens, I will be so happy that I will smash my face against a pile of knives. I'll be honest and say I'm expecting and HD for Human Rights and Philosophy, a very low D/High C for Lit, and anywhere between 60-80 for Psych (smashed the assessments but know none of the content lol so dependent on exam performance cry cry)
knowing AN you'll all be posting straight HDs in a month's time
Haha, I've never had coffee, just can't stand the smell >.<You know where the door is!! The taste, the smell... I miss it already :(

Do you guys prefer studying at home, or at a library during swotvac?I went to uni/library the other day and I probably did more work in that time then I have in the past 2 days... It's so much easier to 'study' at home (study is a codeword for procrastinate ;) ) I might try studying in the kitchen or something now, there's too much distractions in my room. But I am closer to food.... Far out. I'll test something different tomorrow and let you guys know. We can turn this into a research article. lol
Do you guys prefer studying at home, or at a library during swotvac?I'll tell you when I actually get around to starting studying.... sigh....

So modest D:....
I do what she says. That's that.

Oh also I prefer studying at home, mostly because getting to uni takes 1.5 hours of my precious time and also money for transport/food/coffee.
What have we achieved today, people?
does anyone know how to regulate their sleeping schedule? We all stayed up till mid nights during uni..but I want to sleep now..I dont wanna stay up...It's almost 2 AM and I have no sleep whatsoever...I dont wanna go to my first exam like a zombie..Help me :(Stay up until 6am, then go to your nearest Coles and buy some Red Bull, drink it for the rest of the day, crash at 7pm and sleep til 8am or something like that, then study hard, and you should be tuckered out early. That should sort you out pretty quick.
Well, my stubble/moustache is coming along nicely. SWOTVAC is exam season, which means facial hair growth time for guys.

...then went to DFO and GOT SOME FUCKING AWESOME DEALS AT TYPO...
Man, I thought all the hard work and stress was over after year 12 was finished...
Reading all of these posts makes it seem like uni's requires even more time and effort and causes even more stress thank year 12... wtf...
YEAH LOL
I hate everyone who said work gets easier after yr12. Biggest. Trolls. Ever.
I guess it depends on the course.Couldn't agree more, well minus the stats unit :P
But yr12 was a joke compared to what I'm doing now :P
It's easier throughout the semester because you have no obligation to actually do any workYeah... 21 assignments this semester...
the hard work and self hatred comes in the week before your exam when you realise you have to learn a semester's worth of materialNearly getting to that stage atm....
I've found uni as emotionally hard, if not harder, than Year 12. Trying to keep up-to-date with everything is a bitch, as well as trying to minimise marks lost.Would this just be because the pressure for you is the same? Ie. VCE - have to score crazy high to get into the course you're aiming for. Uni - have to score crazy high to get into the course you're aiming for. ,whereas for everyone else it's different?
Idk I think Uni is harder than Year 12 because I started caring.
For the second years and later, I'm finding it a lot more difficult to cram second year units as compared to first year units. I feel like I'm going to run out of time, in the sense that there's too much in the second year units to cram properly in swotvac... Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them in the past or if I've just lost my swotvac cramming ability?Yeah I'm finding that this is the case as well with 2nd year units. I kind of expected it though, because I guess lecturers would understand that first year is a transition year so they may be more lenient with exam material and content. However, I presume they would have expectations that once you get into 2nd year and onwards you'll have learnt and developed the basic skills to study and learn progressively through the semester and REVISE throughout the semester ;)

WHY WHY WHY do i get a virus now!! Hope it's just a 24 hr thing, or better yet 3hr. I have so much to do!
Been awake for almost 36 hours now. Managed to learn the entire chemistry course to a reasonably standard between about 6pm last night and 12pm today. The heeeelllll! Well done! How did you go about achieving that?? Just go through subject objectives?
So yes, I do even SWOTVAC.

Must... stop... rewarding myself with 3 hours of GoT after 30 minutes of studyRookie mistake! Should've started during semester :P
Read all the required chapters and lecture notes, jotted down some of my own notes as I went along and did a few questions to help with retention. Being a nerd I was already familiar with a few of the concepts from prior reading and watching YouTube videos but I'm pretty proud of the achievement regardless haha!Wow you must be a quick reader and learner! Takes me forever to get through lecture slides :'( lol
Absolutely exhausted now though ): Will probably spend the next few days doing more questions and past exams to make sure there aren't any gaps. Anyone got other tips?
I don't even know how people do it.
Not for Monash students LOL
How'd we go with first exams?I'm still counting this as SWOTVAC as my first exam isn't till the 19th, so it's really an 18 day swotvac for me. Also you realise you can ban yourself Brenden? (just be careful to tick the right boxes and not permaban yourself), and then you'll have pi messing around with your ban messages -.- (check the ban log).
(Do people count the exam period as SWOTVAC when you have no exams? My first exam was on the tenth, next one is on the seventeenth... extra days of SWOTVAC)
Was forced to get myself banned on AN in order to study for my first exam. Ended up pushing out 6.5 pages very comfortably. Not sure if it was worth three days of no AN, though.
Apparently the UoM physics exams today was cray?
FUNDAMENTALS. Don't worry dude, I thought I'd literally failed the exam when I did it (I put a smiley face for one of the questions, just a smiley face! And where it asked me to see whether someone could survive something I said 'They will die' but did no working) and I got an 85 so I'm sure it's not as bad as you think :)
I 100% bet all my life savings (69 cents) that you will get h2a at least. But yeah, that is all you can do, it sucks that physics is the worst but it definitely is scaled a lot so hope for the best \o/

Hate it when the person sitting in front of you has flatulence problems. There should be special consideration for that.
Had Bio and Intercultural Communication today. I'm taking a break (for a night).
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS TO BE OVER.
How was IC? :)
It's just the IC exam I wasn't able to leave early from. For some reason we had to stay for the whole hour.
I saw lots of people leave the Bio exam early, but I stayed back anyway - glad I did.
Yeah, it was in a lecture theatre. Very dodgy place to have an exam.Which one?
Sorry, was so fried I didn't see all of the question LOLHaha no worries. And that is ridiculous! The tables there are tiny and about as old as the building itself! And the seat space is miniscule.
It was in Elizabeth Murdoch, Theatre A.

Two down. Thought I was going to get dominated by that Lit exam but I ended up turning it into a pleasurable bondage experience where the dom/submissive roles were constantly interchanging throughout the exam. On the train home now. Has anyone ever felt so much like laughing after an exam? When the invigilators said we could leave, I just burst out laughing (people looked at me suspicious as fuck) and it just felt like 'yaaaayyyyyyy, I didn't die!!!'I'm so glad we don't have exams for Lit at UoM!
I have come to the conclusion that I know how to cram eng units, but not efficient at cramming science units. 5 exams to go starting Wednesday, it's about to get stressful...I've come to the conclusion I can cram eng maths units but not civil eng units. Unfortunately I only had 1 maths unit and 3 civ units this sem and it's only going to get worse as of next semester when I have no maths fuuuaarrrkk

Anyone else feel like this?
On a side note I may or may not have spent the last two days watching all 3 seasons and the movie... >.> <.<
"Simon didn't know whether to come in his pants, or text his friends. In the end, he did both!"
...I watched more of this video that I should have to get Pi's point.
I also feel like after exams I should go through all seasons of The Inbetweeners for some reason...
If there's one thing you can count on in life it's that Channel 9 will have a screening of Harry Potter planned.Nah. If there's one thing you can count on; the one time you decided to get off IRC and go to bed, you end up lying in bed awake until 6.30am, by which time you figure it may as well be time to study.
1 more exam left..and then
lol.Try having 5 left and realising that you didn't utilize the last 2 weeks!!! :\
I still have 3 exams left :(
lol.

I have finally been liberated!
Yup, that happens to me always Nina.
Or even 2 minutes after the exam.
By the time it gets to a week later, I'm in the 'Oh my god did I forgot to put/do/say' phase.
do you guys ever get that feeling when something you wrote in an exam a week ago suddenly comes back to you and you realise how totally and ridiculously wrong it wasThis happens to me after a maths exam....during the middle of the night-.-. All of the sudden I wake up (probably after dreaming about it) and realise all of the stupid mistakes I've made.
T_T

Never had this problem because I'm always correct.

Hate those dreams :l
I've had so many dreams where I thought i've failed something
Am I the only one still with exams? lol
2 on Tuesday, then done :D

Didn't start studying for it till ytd because I was like 'that'll be a good idea'.
Sure was...
Guess what guyz, tomorrow ima' be free!!!!! :) :D :P :D :) :P :)
btw, does anyone elses bedroom become cluttered with papers during the exam period?
Here's what you do. You move papers from chair to bed. When you wake up, move from bed to chair. Repeat.

My mum is always like "how do you sleep on your bed when you have that many papers on it". MOVEMENT OF ITEMS IS A THING, MUM, GEEZE. I'm not so obese that I have to sleep on the bed and the desk simultaneously.

It's so good not having to wake up with an alarm clock!
Ughhh I have a friends birthday breakfast on Thursday morning so I still have to -.-
It's gonna be weird it's at like some kind of south East Asian type food place?? I JUST WANT AN OMELETTE, NO TOAST. Difficult to return to no carb diet when people insist on weird things.
celebrating my freedom by returning straight to full time work T_TI feel ya, sister. Gotta make that monies for Sem 2 livin'
Are you doing keto, simpak?
It's like my friends studying microbiology, trying to avoid as much human contact they can as possible
^Is this what happens if you study anything related to biology at university? O_O

5 DOWN 0 TO GO! FREEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
1 week later, everyone is bored, always happens
How can anyone be bored with a lifetime of learning ahead of them ::)Every day is the dawn of new opportunity! And even beyond, to the organised mind death is but the next great adventure!
