It's Rare Books Week in Melbourne. Time to hear about all the books that I'd really love to read but don't
have make time for. Some with beautiful covers, too (though now I do most of my reading on a Kindle).
Tonight was Juvenile Books of War, many of them suitably jingoistic, particularly early in the wars, and with the old-style covers.
I love the concept of the Christmas Truce, and there was a lovely tiny book with a Christmas Truce poem and some beautiful illustrations. The poem itself with some of the illustrations is
here (I also like the film Joyeux Noel - both because of the Christmas Truce, and because it has one of the most chilling sermons ever).
Then had the fun of bus replacement, heavy rain, hail, and a very close and bright flash of lightning just before I got home. Generally just good times as only Melbourne can provide
.
