I spoke with heaps of unis and yes, most of them do have the bridging courses that I've looked in to. The unis I am hoping to go for would be those that offer undergraduate medicine first so griffith, JCU, monash, even maybe sunshine coast uni - but i will apply for as many unis as I can.

My subjects are chemistry, physics, English, french, methods and either specialist or bio? Still undecided! HELP.
Really my subject choice is just what will be better for my ATAR at this stage, that's all I am basing it off. It's either i stick with specialist so I have no regrets in dropping it and know that it will scale well. The only issue was the amount of stress it caused and the time it took up. Or go to bio to have an amazing teacher and hopefully less stress and just work really hard at it.

Ok great; so either way you'll have a strong foundation for uni.

As unhelpful as this may sound, generally what's best for your ATAR is what's best for you - you're more likely to be motivated & learn the topics easier if you're more interested and believe more in what you're studying.

It sounds to me like you're leaning towards bio so (if that's the case) I would say back yourself and go with that. For unit 4 you may wish to do some prelearning over the holidays to make up for what you've missed if you do pick bio, but unit 3 especially doesn't lean on units 1&2 very much.

Otherwise, if you can identify which you would regret more - dropping spec or not taking the chance on bio - this might help you with your decision.

Best of luck and I hope this helps :)

ok I think I am leaning towards bio but I think if I didn't end up with a great ATAR I would regret dropping specialist more.

I am also worried about doing 3 sciences for my externals and exams? Is that too difficult because I find chemistry extremely hard.

I did 4 sciences and for me that was fine & worked well (in VCE the exams are worth more too). On the other hand, some people have had different experiences so it's unfortunately hard to predict which way you'll go. I think that doing chemistry in particular is an advantage since it's the central science - chem and bio work well together imo. Lots of people find chem 1&2 very difficult because of how new the concepts are so I'd try not to stress too much about that.

I'd be wary of trying to predict too closely what subjects you'll get the highest score from as people are often surprised on results day by the order of results. Keep in mind that scaling (up or down) only adjusts your score. In Victoria study scores are only out of 50 but still, my two highest scores were scaled by less than 1. I'd expect bigger scaling than that from spec but keep in mind that we still don't know what the scaling will actually be. I'm not saying don't do spec; I am suggesting that you try to focus on factors that are more likely to have big impact on your ATAR like your motivation, interest, and belief it will be useful to your future.

Best of luck with your decision :)
