The difficulty will differ between everyone depending on how much time they put in, the starting background in biology of the student. However, I think everyone has the capacity to score 30+ if they work throughout the year. Obviously that is not theoretically possible (since 50% need to score below 30) but enough people don't do much study until exam time for this to be true on an individual basis.

my friend got a 32 last year and he averaged 70% on sacs and got a C+ on the exam and was ranked roughly 6/10 in our cohort, I averaged 50% and got a C+ in the exam and was roughly 7/10 and got a 27 so take that as you will.
