I don't know what genre it'd fit into... it was dark and jazz-y, and the singer had a very deep voice. The lyrics contained the word 'rain', and maybe something about smell or coffee, I can't remember. The cover of the album had purple and yellow.

That's literally all I know. This is impossible. The song was so fucking good and I can't find it arsdgshfdsh

It was not, but I will be looking into that album regardless, if your past taste in music is anything to go by

Good news, however! After complaining about not being able to find the song, a friend suggested I use the search function on messenger to look through the conversation with the person who introduced it to me. Fortunately, it worked, and I found a mention of the song! It's You Look Like Rain by Morphine. Jeez, no wonder I couldn't find it though... the album cover contained no purple. I was misremembering so many things about it.
