Failing English literature, repeating year 12

I chose to do literature in VCE because I love reading, analysing, and talking about books. However this year things have gone terribly (due to myriad of reasons) and I doubt I'm going to be able to score above a 20, as my marks have been all over the place and the exam is 50%.
I want to do science next year but every uni or alternate pathway I've researched requires at least a study score of 20.

Firstly, what other options do I have?
Should I repeat the year (I have been slightly improving and spending another year on it might be extremely helpful)?
Also what is the process for repeating???
(Most of my other subjects are okay- except methods but that's not required for everything)

Quoting myself from another thread:

Often universities will have some sort of bridging course if students who wish to study there didn't quite reach the English requirements. Successfully passing the bridging course will be recognised as the English prerequisite instead.

Bridging courses for English can take 10 weeks at the minimum to 20 weeks (at least at Monash) depending on where your current abilities are at, so it is significantly shorter than repeating a 3/4 sequence. These can be done during the break as far as I know at certain times, so you are able to enrol into a university course at the start of any semester.

For now, it isn't over until you finally open your results! Keep working hard!

Agree with above. Don't repeat year 12. There are other ways.

I think as well (hypothetically if you did a bridging course at a uni/tafe/etc), you'd be in a completely different environment which most likely would be positive... change of environment can be a good thing. I know personally when I started uni, the removal from my immature peer group at school helped me significantly develop in the area of maths/stats.

Just a thought. :)
