 I did ATS1321 last semester. I can do a review later today; is there anything in particular you want to know?

ACC1100: Intro to financial Accounting
ACC1200: Accounting for managers

Just want to know which of these two units I should choose for one of my First year units :)
Endure the pain of discipline now, or suffer the pain of regret later.

2014: Business Management {47}
2015: Methods {40} ~ Specialist {35} ~ English Language {36} ~ Physics {39} ~ Accounting {43}

ATAR: 98.00

2016 - 2020: Bachelor of Civil Engineering(Honours)/Bachelor of Commerce

ACC1200: Accounting for managers

Just want to know which of these two units I should choose for one of my First year units :)

This is the first year that they have split the first-year accounting unit into two (there used to be only one compulsory unit called ACC1000: Principles of accounting and finance), so there is no one who can really give a review of either of them.

Since you did Accounting in VCE, I would say that the content of ACC1100 (Introduction to financial accounting) will probably be more familiar to you (my memory of VCE Accounting is quite faded now, but I remember it being mostly financial accounting and hardly any management accounting).

Also, it looks like Alan Serry is running ACC1100, while John Gerrand is running ACC1200. Based off that alone, I would recommend ACC1100, as I much preferred Alan's lectures to John's (I also had Alan as a tutor for one of my first-year accounting subjects, and his tutorials were very helpful).
2011: Methods [44]
2012: Accounting [50] | Economics [47] | English Language [46] | Further [50] | Specialist [34] | ATAR: 99.80
2013-2016: Commerce Scholars Program/Economics (Accounting/Finance/Economics) @ Monash

Would ACC1100 be the same if I chose to do it second semester compared to the first or would somebody else be running it (since I happen to have a clash with my timetable if I include what I want for this semester)?

From the handbook entry, it looks like Alan Serry is running it in both semesters, so yeah, it should be the same.

Brief overview anyone?

They did a fairly massive overhaul of the commerce degree and majors this year, and BFC1001 is a completely new subject. Previously, finance was included at the first-year level within the unit ACC1000: Principles of accounting and finance, where it was only covered for around three weeks. The handbook entry on BFC1001 looks quite bare, so I do not understand how they will be stretching it out to a whole semester, but it seems like they will be teaching more theory about the financial system, investment, risk, etc. but it will all be introductory stuff that you will cover in more depth in later subjects. I am pretty sure the maths will still be quite basic (i.e. calculating the present/future value of an amount by discounting/compounding).

Has anyone done MGC2021: Organisations and society and/or MGC2430: Human Resource Management? I'd love to know personal opinions on these units  :)
