As per the title of this thread, what are some actions that you can take to live more sustainably? :)

Here are some I've brainstormed:

- Change up your commute - instead of driving, walk / cycle / use public transport to get to your destination. If these are not possible, how about carpooling with friends / siblings (when COVID restrictions are eased)?
- Reduce your consumption of meat
- Use a reusable metal straw
- Use a reusable cup for coffee and a reusable water bottle
- Start a compost bin - some councils can get you a fee subsidized compost bin and / or have a food waste bin!
- On that note, throw your rubbish in the bin, not on the ground!
- Turn off electronics and/or their switches (e.g. TV / game console / charging points / lights) when not in use.
- Save water - start using a timer when having showers and keep the tap off when brushing your teeth.

Over to you! :)

Edit: Bonus tip I forgot to add - have a look in the reduced section of your local supermarket / fruit shop for any vegetables! This can save food from going in the bin and also give you some ideas of what to cook for a meal :)

Awesome thread, this is a great idea I'm sure there is so much we can learn from each other :)
Your ideas are really similar to what I currently do!
Some ways that I currently do to live more sustainably are:

- only charge devices during the day, so that the power is being generated from our solar panels
- eat plant-based where possible: for me, this is basically every meal every day unless I am out somewhere where they don't have vegan options
- Use a glass or metal straw
- Only use/buy metal/glass drink bottles
- Use a reusable and recyclable/biodegradable keep cup - I love my Oasis Eco Cup, its made out of wheat.
- When vegetables are sitting in the fridge not being used (and will probably go off before they get used) make a soup! It's better than eventually chucking them out when they get mouldy!
- Make sure what you put in the rubbish isn't recyclable! Turns out the packets (not the cups) of two-minute noodles are recyclable!

Just some general things that I do!

- Currently vegetarian!
- Using re-usable coffee cups and straws when going out
- Switching off all switches at night
- Using natural light during the day
- Using a compost bin (as a family)
- Minimising the use of single use plastics as much as possible
- Using rainwater to water plants (as a family)

Love this thread!  :D

Love this thread! This is actually one of my New Years Resolutions so I've been making a more active attempt to live more sustainably. Few things I've been doing (most have already been mentioned)  :)

- Using a re-usable cup. The cafe at my uni actually takes off a few cents from your order if you bring one!
- Having a small recycling bin our study room.
- Switching to tooth tabs instead of using toothpaste. Once you get used to them, you can't go back!
- Using natural light during the day and minimising lights on at night.
- Turning off all electronic devices when not in use.
- Re-use plastic containers. A lot of Asian families already do this just because we get so many from takeaway.
- Collect bottles, cans and any other containers to return for Return and Earn.
