Hi there!

First off, I want to say thank you for being apart of this forum and helping students with their questions! Greatly appreciated!

I want to study International Studies/Law at UTS, however when I look at the website, there's no bonus points given towards law, yet the selection rank for this degree 96.55. So for law, what adjustment factors are added? Will my subjects be included as apart of the adjustment factors, my school location (its rural)? Also what is the maximum amount of bonus points you can give out? assuming lets say I dont get the ATAR needed?

Thank you so much!

Hi Therese!

We're glad you appreciate us being part of the forum. Thanks for being our first official responder!

UTS offers adjustment points (bonus points) under two different schemes:
1. The Year 12 Subject Scheme, and the
2. Educational Access Scheme (EAS, or inpUTS, as it is referred to at UTS).

You can not gain adjustment points for the Bachelor of Law under the Year 12 Subject Scheme. This means that your HSC subject results will not count for any adjustment factors.

However, you can gain adjustments points under the Educational Access Scheme. This scheme considers your school location and any disadvantage you may have faced during your HSC. If your school is located in a rural area, you may be eligible for the geographic area code disadvantage (AGO1). This adjustment factor would be automatically added to your UAC application if your school meets the requirements.

For more information about the Educational Access Scheme at UTS, you can visit the inpUTS web page: https://www.uts.edu.au/future-students/undergraduate/admission-requirements/admission-schemes/educational-access-schemes-0

If you don't get the ATAR required, you can look at page 39 of the Faculty of Law Course Guide for an idea of admission pathways into the Bachelor of Law: https://www.uts.edu.au/sites/default/files/2019-03/uts-law-ug-course-guide_0.pdf

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Jessica

Hi UTS!

I have a question regarding early entry and was wondering what kinds of early entry options there are available for UTS?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Coolmate,

Thanks for your question.

Unfortunately we don't have early entry at UTS, but we do have a range of other schemes that can help boost your application. Check out our Year 12 subject scheme (previously called bonus points) https://www.uts.edu.au/future-students/year-12-adjustment-factors

We also have a range of schemes for elite athletes, students interested in studying science, engineering and IT. As well as the Educational Access Scheme (known at UTS as inpUTS). You can find them all here https://www.uts.edu.au/future-students/undergraduate/admission-requirements/admissions-schemes?utm_campaign=hello_2019&utm_content=csl&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=social

If you're worried about your options or concerned about what will happen if you don't get the marks to get into your course, come along to our Options Day on the 19th of December! We'll have academics, students and staff to help you work out your options. You can register here https://infoweek.uts.edu.au/options-day/

Hope this helps!

Could you please provide me with some insight into the Bachelor of Management (Digital Creative Enterprise)
Would this be suitable/ general enough for someone who is unsure of the career path they want?

Hi UTS!

What do you think makes UTS the best place to study medical science as opposed to USYD and other Sydney universities?

Hi Eliza Rose

Thanks for your question!

The Bachelor of Management is structured so that you get to choose a major (which in your case will be the Digital Creative Enterprise). This means that your core focus will be on the Bachelor of Management but you will specialise in Digital Creative Enterprise.

The Digital Creative Enterprise major is our newest major and has been designed to respond to the how the management world is changing! Digital creative enterprise management seeks to introduce you to the processes that are involved in the interplay of technology and the commercialisation of creativity. In short the major focuses on the digital and creative industries and puts you at the forefront of these industries. You can find more in our business course guide https://www.uts.edu.au/sites/default/files/2019-02/uts-business-course-guide.pdf

If you're a bit unsure about what degree to do within this field, I would recommend doing a Bachelor of Business as you can choose management as your main major. This allows you to do management, without having to pick one of the majors. You can have a look at the difference between the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Management on our FAQ's page https://www.uts.edu.au/future-students/business/business-courses/undergraduate-programs/bachelor-management/frequently

If you're still a bit stuck, you can always come along to Options Day on the 19th of December. You'll be able to talk to students, staff and academics about the two degrees and get further clarification about the majors too. You can register for Options Day here https://infoweek.uts.edu.au/options-day/

Tutti

Hi Ailish

Thanks for your question- it's a really common one we get, so we're glad you asked!

At UTS, we're all about making sure you get the practical experiences you need to excel in the science field, which means that within the Bachelor of Medical Science, we try and get you into the lab as much as possible so you can be experimenting and testing out different theories and experiments as often as you can.

In second and third years, you’ll gain industry relevant experience with unique subjects like evidence based medical science and case studies in
medical science. You can have a look at the medical science handbook here to see what kind of subjects you'll be taking http://handbook.uts.edu.au/courses/c10184.html

You'll also apply the knowledge and theory that you learn in the classroom to real world case studies, and help solve real problems in society. And if your super keen on getting involved and gaining some work experience, you can also do an internship as one of your subjects.

We're also keeping up to date with all the technology and equipment you need as a future scientist! We opened our superlab in Building 7 and have just opened our new Hive Superlab in Building 2 (UTS Central). These are designed for collaboration and probably look a lot different to the labs and equipment you might use at high school. You can check them out here.https://www.uts.edu.au/about/faculty-science/what-we-do/science-videos/inside-uts-science-super-lab

If you'd like to hear about the experiences of some of our recent graduates, you can check out a student profile here https://www.uts.edu.au/future-students/science/course-experience/student-and-graduate-profiles/research-profiles/bernice

You can also come along to UTS Options Day on 19 December to chat to current students, staff and academics about the degree and how they have found it. You can register for options day here https://infoweek.uts.edu.au/options-day/

Hope this helps!
