Online Textbook or a Physical Textbook

Hey people, so I'm doing Year 11 next year and am unsure whether I should to resort to the online version of a textbook or a physical textbook. I usually write notes into a separate document and don't make notes in the book itself.
What would you recommend? - this is for Accounting

Hey Nature :)

It's totally up to you as to which version of the textbook you choose! Do you prefer to read a physical or electronic book?

Having the online version of the textbook saves space in your bag. It can be handy if it has diagrams and tables that you can take a screenshot of and paste into your notes easily. You can even split screen your notes document and textbook if your laptop offers this feature, something that can't be done with the physical book haha. Online versions tend to be cheaper too.

On the flip side, online textbooks present the potential issue that you might be distracted more easily due to the internet being readily available.

It might be better for your eyes to read off a physical textbook rather than a computer. However, there are plugins you can install on your computer to filter out the blue light for a more eye-friendly read (e.g. Flux).

Hey Nature!

I think it is purely up to you, I prefer a real textbook though, but below are some advantages and disadvantages of both Online and Physical versions of textbooks:

Online:
 ;DPROS:
  • Ability to instantly search for key words, chapters or specific parts of the textbook
  • Adjust the size of the font
  • If you are allowed, you could copy and paste information easier
  • You won't have to carry around a heavy textbook

 :(CONS:
  • You don't get to physically hold the textbook
  • You can't rip out certain pages

Physical:
 ;DPROS:
  • Can highlight the textbook with a real highlighter
  • May help you understand content better
  • Can help your eyes

 :(CONS:
  • Heavy to carry around
  • Takes up space
  • Can lose or can be damaged

I hope this help with your decision and good luck with Year 11! :D
